Thanks! Yep, vocodes all around, and a layer or two of distortion. I don't always use a vocoder on vocals, but when I do it's because I'm the one singing :)

Well played. The only times I have enjoyed beer in the morning is when I'm camping. I may have to change that.

First track. Some feedback would mean the world to me. by harlandjpin WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]canopyracer 0 points1 point ago

This is definitely a start. I think you still have a ways to go though: 1) the beginning could use some incidentals to keep it interesting. The average user doesn't get the same rush you the music maker gets when a snare or hat is added after 8 bars or whatever. When I started out in electronic music, I would have three minutes of build thinking it was the most amazing thing but really, it was crap :) It takes some serious skill to get the build and intro's "Just right". 2)The track could use some cohesion and IMHO the transitions don't effectively feel like transitions, more like stops and starts to different tracks. A common synth or phrase to unify all would help. 3)I think your synths and sounds could use some heavier customisation...it sounds a tad canned. 4)Keep up the good work, there's a lot you can do with this!

That is fantastic. Love the design and subject, of course! Screen print?

I keep seeing feedback that says "that would have been hip 5 years ago" so what's hip Now? by misterdesimonein web_design

[–]canopyracer 0 points1 point ago

Good design is timeless. If you know the fundamentals and how to effectively use your space and medium, you shouldn't have to worry too much about what is popular because your design will be inherently good. This is easier said than done, of course. Stay away from OBVIOUS trends and bold, drastic elements. Instead focus on content, its purpose, and yes, white space :) Granted, your post title indicates you want to know what's hip now, and I hope you realize "now" changes day to day. With this philosophy, you'll be a slave to your site and will be updating your design every 6 months. That's no way to live.

Robots rock! Very cool, but it definitely needs more contrast. If that's a logo it's pretty busy, do you have a trimmed down version?

[Listen] Thoughts on my latest track made in R6? by Serendipitationin reasoners

[–]canopyracer 1 point2 points ago

This is a good listen. Ultimately, it's unremarkable, but there's nothing wrong with that. It's the sort of track I enjoy listening to while I work for these reasons: it has a nice beat to keep me going; nothing too distracting in the meandering, repetitive way; but when I do tune in here and there, there is something fairly interesting going on. Love the shaker sound that goes through the song, very ear candy. The tune feels very 1998 to me and I like that. To me the 90's were the golden age of chillout and ambient. Nicely done.

You've been tweeted, AND I logged in to the demo account and have to say, well, well done. Very easy to navigate and apparently easy to use!

Nice work! However: I was headed over to tweet this, but couldn't find the name prominent on the landing page! I know, I know, there's a big stack of pancakes, and I know you didn't ask for design input. HOWEVER, this does seem like an incredible tool and I see much need for it. AND made by fellow Redditors? Sold. Very nice work.
