I'm also a 32 year old male transfer student! I agree for the most part with what you say except about being viewed as threatening, etc. I have made friends with a lot of different students, been invited to and attended off campus parties, invited fellow students to young professionals mixers I have access to, etc.
The only limits to anyone are those they place on themselves. Cliche but true.

I'm pretty sure the path led under an overpass, that's why it looks like it might be Padaro. I'll have to drive up there next weekend. Do most of the beaches in that area have a liberal dog policy? I remember there being several people with dogs running around off leash that day.

Thanks for taking the time to share your experience. I just want to move somewhere remote and tropical and away from the rat race. I'm a veteran and have plenty of experience being away from civilization for long stretches of time, so I think I have a decent idea of what I'm considering.
