You got it! You could also use Page Manager + Panels to accomplish this -- just realized. Less kludgey than the view, but probably not good if you're not already using Panels.

Also: If you use the path node/%/custom instead, you use the Subpath Auto module, then you should be able to have pretty URLs for the "custom" path as well. e.g.

node/5 = about-us

node/5/custom = about-us/custom

BTW, what's the use case for this?

Yeah, you can use Views to do that. Make a page view that selects Content ID / Node ID from the argument (contextual filter), give it the path custom/%, select node display (rather than fields display) and your view mode....

It won't activate for me in vim on my Mac, but in mvim (MacVim) it will activate but throws this error:

There are a number of reasons that using tables to achieve layout is bad, such as:

completely misuses what tables are meant for
couples markup much more tightly to the layout of the site (CSS can change layout to certain extents without needing to change the markup)
very verbose -- needs a ton of markup
less accessible to those using screenreaders
less flexible (responsive/adaptive layout with table-based layouts? nope...)
makes styling actual tables more difficult

(these are just off the top of my head...feel free to google about it)

However... "not supported anymore"? Hah... then what are you supposed to do when, you know, showing tabular data? :)

I can see it both ways... sounds like a communication problem; perhaps the contractor is a bit new to the process (or doesn't really follow a process). Not sure at the moment exactly what other advice to give, though, beyond talking about it and seeing if you'll be able to get it more like you want it. It will help if you can name which parts in particular you don't like and why. Do you not like that the page is narrower? The hover state of the main nav items? (that's one thing I dislike) That the markup doesn't use tables for layout anymore? That the vertical spacing above/below main nav is different? etc etc etc. :)

Did you hire them to do the work? Agree to pay a fixed sum or an hourly rate? Is there a contract? The language you're using ("I'll pass") is worrisome given that it appears they've already done a significant amount of work.

They don't have the best design sense (need to work on alignment/spacing/repetition) or markup skill (they're using HTML5 shiv with an XHTML doctype...wha?) but it looks a lot better than your current site, and I'd hope they'd be putting a little more polish on it, too. Not sure why you'd want to keep the look of your current site to the pixel.

Either way, they have to re-implement the site (they already have) so they cleaned up the look of it for you. An analogy: If you built a chest of drawers out of whatever boards you had lying around and then decided you needed it to be wider/taller and hired someone to make those "changes," they would also rebuild, and they'd rebuild in a more standard way that people who do woodworking professionally do. It's their trade.

How is the term "gangbang" sexist? It's sexual and inappropriate, but the receiver in a gangbang can be a man or a woman.
