A buddy of mine wrote this, figured it was worth sharing/discussing: It's Time to Change the Way We Talk About Music by brosephjyantin LetsTalkMusic

[–]aurochs 0 points1 point ago

Part of the reason this article will be so desired is that the style of reviews popularized by Pitchfork and Vice are so so awful. The writers seem to focus on themselves, or stereotypes of the people who would like this music. "This music is for cynical college dropouts who read the New Yorker and eat cheeseburgers- though I am eating a cheeseburger as I write this..."

A change in this sounds very exciting. I anticipate your 'example' post.

Ok, thanks. You gotta admit, it doesn't look anything like the two symbols on your picture! Do you know what the symbol represents? A 3d 'T' maybe?

Ha, white isn't a race. I'll have to give that a listen. My dad once listed his race as "human" on a census form and the gov't was not amused. I suppose 'male' isn't a real gender either, just a social privilege.

If computers didn't have clocks, would they have no limitations in time, and therefore be able to tell you things from the future?

There are other problems, RJD2 and Decemberists in the soundtracks and if your picky, late 60s music in the early 60s.

As someone named Ian, this was naturally a strange headline to read...

I don't know why it would be so easy with a phone, I've tried it using my computer and scanner, it was extremely picky about format, couldn't rotate properly, then finally said the image was too wide but its cropping function didn't work.

Disapointing.

Overcompress everything, use mono chorus plugins to make things out of tune and warbly. Cut out important freq's using eq, or turn up the mids a lot.

Ha ha. Its been tough for me trying to decide whether or not it was an actual style with a name or just some kind of sub-trend. I figured reddit would tell me.

On the possibly positive side, I hadn't paid my bill for about six months (I wasn't getting their email notifications) yet didn't have any kind of penalty.
