I don't know, I think there definitely is a large strain of atheists today whose atheism is at least partly rooted in reaction to childhood religious indoctrination (including myself). It's not a "wrong" source for atheism to emerge from, or even a central one to many, but it's definitely a part of many people's atheist identities and stories, including Dawkins and Hitchens. When youthful rebellion against indoctrination becomes the dominant component of one's atheism, it seems to take on a different character, which Enstein finds distasteful. Someone who is raised atheist or otherwise transcends their indoctrination doesn't have an axe to grind.
