Yeah all the time, the water is fantastic for it. In my last three times out, I've seen 2 snakes, 6 turtles, a crawfish, a few bass, and a million tad poles. Sculpture Falls and Gus Fruh are my favorite pools to snorkel.

Nope it was at the bottom of the creek bed, getting wet, found it while snorkeling. I also found a sweet pair of Ray Bans and a perfectly good "Mountain Dew" shirt that fits me well, along with lots of trash that I cleaned out. By the way, I'm currently not trying to find the owner of the Ray Bans...

Seriously that's dumb, it totally worked. First thing I do when I find a wallet is use the Internet to find the owner myself (facebook usually works) and after all avenues have been searched, then the police, or as someone else suggested, his bank.

I have exactly one week left in Austin. What must I do? by gregorydgarcia1in Austin

Can't believe no one has said swim at the greenbelt. The water won't be around for too much longer! Definitely have to hit up Barton Creek.

Best vista: Absolutely without a doubt Enchanted Rock, however it gets pretty crowded.

Good on you, set an example for people and they sometimes to follow. I hauled out 2 bags of trash today myself.

Double Dave's at 31st and Duval, but I don't think they have pasta on their buffet, just pizza, salad, and a few other things.

The weekends have quiet mornings too, really the obnoxious people show up around 1 or 2.

Because they are drunk and lazy, just got back from the belt and saw it myself all over the place, carried a god damn diaper for a mile and a half to the trash

Austin golfers! What's your favorite course around town or surrounding areas? by Smellmyhandin Austin

[–]arrowheadt 2 points3 points ago

For me it's Muny, aka Lions Municipal. Lots of history, it's where Tom Kite and Ben Crenshaw learned to play. Ben Hogan also has a history there...

"One month prior to winning the 1950 U.S. Open, Ben Hogan played an exhibition match with Harvey Penick, Morris Williams Jr., and Ed Hopkins in front of a large gallery. When Hogan approached the tee at what is now #16 he claimed it to be 'the only hole I've ever seen without a fairway.' After birdying the difficult par 4, the hole eternally became known as 'The Hogan Hole' "

It's going under in a few years, so get out there and play while you can!

Edit: The best courses in the area are probably Austin Country Club and The Hills at Lakeway, but they are private and super expensive.

If only all the people who drink and smoke were like you, we might not have to have those laws.

Greenbelt: CAUTION! by longarmofthelawin Austin

I was snorkeling the other day when a swimming dog came out of nowhere and knocked me in the head with its huge paw.

I always see way more dogs than fish at Barton Creek.

Greenbelt: CAUTION! by longarmofthelawin Austin

[–]arrowheadt -1 points0 points ago

Nice to caution others about not breaking the law, but still... "Cops come walking up and BAM, $222 ticket. Day ruined. No warning."

That's bitching, especially since there is plenty of warning at the trail heads.

Greenbelt: CAUTION! by longarmofthelawin Austin

It's right at the entrance to every single trail head, along with no glass, no fires, and dogs on leash, plain as day. It must be from a lack of not looking very hard.
