What do you pay for cable in long beach. by mocismein longbeach

[–]anazgnos 0 points1 point ago

This is the worst. I'm stuck with Verizon DSL at 3mbps, but they throttle me down to .7 every single night at 5 PM on the dot. I can't get anybody at the company to even acknowledge that this is happening, there are no higher speed plans available, FIOS isn't here yet, nobody can tell me when it's coming, and meanwhile evil, evil, Charter beckons with a 6-month contract I'll be up shit creek for if they turn out to be as bad, unreliable, and evil as absolutely everyone says they are. All I want is to stream netflix hulu & local content to my WD box, but I'm stuck in the stone ages here. </endrant>

What's you're describing may have been a technical limitation, but the resulting effect however kind of underscores the tension in the scene. People will often talk about feeling like they're "running through molassses" or running in slow motion in a crisis like this. It's like you're seeing the scene replayed in memory and her awareness that she will never be able to get there fast enough.

Thanks for the info. I've been checking into the FiOS thing periodically and it still comes up as unavailable. Would love to get in on that action...

Thanks for the info. Those problems sound worse than the ones I'm having. Unfortunately verizon doesn't offer 7.5-15 at my address, I seem to be maxed out for speed thru DSL.

Man, it's just not gonna be the same as it was back in the day man, back in 2005, before they got all huge and sold out! Us oldtimers will always remember though!

I always had this idea to go as Mark David Chapman and my wife as a blood-spattered Yoko. Haven't had the occassion to put it into action yet.

Random Volume Fluctuations? by Bacontasticin vinyl

It sounds like a problem with the amplifier and not the turntable. Volume fluctuations like that are a common issue on older amps but generally not serious. It's probably not specific to your phono channel but you just happen to be noticing the most it when playing records.

Look into cleaning the pots and contacts inside the amp with DeOxit.

30-50 watts of tube power will be all you need for anything, ever. I played very loud noise rock and never wanted for volume with my 50w combo and my co-guitarist had a mere 1x12 30w Hot Rod.

A decent tube amp should last a lifetime and support whatever you want to do as a guitarist. It'll sound great now and it'll sound even better as you learn more about how to work with it.

This is an RD Standard RI. The RD Artist was the one with the funky active electronics but the RD Standard was always a plain passive model. Are there still significant differences?

Assuming you have a belt drive, replacing the belt will probably not correct speed issues on it's own. Try to find a manual for your unit online and see if it has a fine pitch adjust somewhere on the unit. Belt-drives usually have these, but generally in the form of a tiny screw or something similar located under the unit or under the platter.

Yeah, this is crucial. What he needs to be doing is improv and character work like on Curb, or something like that. His later movies were all low-rent broad comedies and I hope he stays well away from that, but it seems like the time is ripe for the kind of improv character-based stuff he was great at.

Notable for being an early appearance on record by Pete Cosey, the greatest out-psych guitarist of all time, who was later the key component of Miles' mid-70s extreme-avant-funk period.

Buy every Miles Davis album with Pete Cosey on it. Buy the others too, but buy every single one with Pete Cosey.

Still, the fact that you can't see the dust doesn't necessarily have anything to do with how the record sounds. If it takes 2 or 3 passes to clean other records, it should only take 2 or 3 passes to clean this one, there's no magical reason why it's going to be any dirtier than any other record.

I mean, wiping a record down is fine but it's never going to mean the difference between a lot of noise and no noise. If the record is really dirty, you'll have to look into washing rather than wiping, and if the issue is the quality of the pressing, no amount of wiping or washing will make any difference.
