[Question] Since EA introduced Origin, are there still Steam sales on EA titles? by alo81in GameDeals

[–]alo81[S] 0 points1 point ago

That was why I asked yes, I was hoping to pick them up during Steam sales and circumvent Origin if possible, thanks for the help.

This is exactly why I asked, because I'd figured if they WERE discounted, Summer Sales would be where I'd be able to nab em. Thanks.

Never thought someone would build this: an android phone without touch screen, I present you Motorola i886 by methicalin Android

The difference though is that in those, the mouse basically emulates the touch. In the phone shown, you can't do NOTHING like touchin!

I got from 190 to 130 in a little bit over a year, and now I've made my goal to stick between 130 and 140. Also, loose skin is still something I've gotta deal with. It's not that noticeable in the picture posted, but the skin in my biceps is still pretty stretchy and feels spongy to squeeze and the skin on my lower stomach is pretty loose when you touch it. It has been getting tighter over time, especially with exercise, so over time I expect it to work itself out, and I'm just helping it along with lifting weights.

Oh damn, congrats to you as well, you're looking great, especially compared to how you once did!

And yeah my moms new nickname for me is "flaco" since that means skinny in spanish, the skinny jokes come in all different ways.

I get the comments on what I eat too, especially from my dad. He's the type who lifts weights and has muscle, but it's all shrouded in a thick fat layer. He complains that he wants to lose weight, and I make recommendations to him and he'll just respond "But i'm a big man I need to eat man meals, i couldn't live off the food you eat. I'm just at the point where my body doesn't let me lose weight anymore." Their comments about me aren't as frustrating as the fact that almost all the people who make the comments want to lose weight too but just lack the conviction! And I try to help them and they get defensive.

Thanks for the positive comments, it helps.

I've talked to him about it, I've tried to help, and he'll go on the occasional health kick where he'll work out for a week but he never sticks to it. I'd love for him to get in shape, and I know he'd obviously like to be healthier, but he doesn't really show the conviction to it. I do worry about losing him young because of his health, but I can't force him to be healthy if he doesn't want to.

Well for me, it was mostly just watching quantities of what I ate.

The number 1 tip I give is drink only water, and number 2, is don't be too crazy with the diet. Just drinking water makes it so much easier to keep track of the nutrition on your foods, and if you allow yourself to eat a little worse than usual at times, then you'll keep your sanity.

With the portion control, I do stuff like if I REALLY want some soda, only fill the cup maybe 1/3 full, or enough of an amount that you finish it and your meal at the same time. I always see people get a giant cup of full fat milk with breakfast, finish their food with the cup still mostly full, and then just chug it all down. Just excluding something like that can be HUGE in keeping weight off. Along those same lines, rather than taking a package of cookies up to the room with you, just grab one or two.

I actually lost all the weight without exercise, but I'd advise against it. When you get down in weight that much , that quickly without bulking up or something along those lines, the skin can get loose, which is why I'm lifting now to counteract.

If I think of anything else that can help, I'll happily clue you in

My current goal is bulking up actually yes. I've mostly been doing at home exercises, making use of my pull up bar and pushups, but on weekends I'll usually go to the gym for a more well rounded exercise.

Thanks for the honest opinion by the way, I'm not looking for people to agree with me, I'm looking for what they really think, and I appreciate you giving me that.

Saw an article on Kotaku about modding the PC version of FF7 with significant graphical updates. This is the result. by tshamnerin gaming

I'm guessing you haven't played the non-console Kingdom Hearts Games. Birth By Sleep is fantastic, of the same calibur as the PS2 Kingdom Hearts games, even better depending on who you ask, and Chain of Memories was a different, yet still really cool and interesting Kingdom Hearts game. Dream Drops Distance (Aka 3D's) looks to be something more akin to Birth By Sleep, which itself was akin to the PS2 games.

Honestly, Birth by Sleep could have been a console based prequel and I wouldn't be surprised with the breadth of content in that game.

Is there a game similar to GTA IV without the violence? by voipaskain Games

I got a racing wheel recently and decided to use Burnout Paradise as my test game.

Dude holy shit. It's gotten to the point where I'll wake up and think "God, I have so many games in my backlog, but all I wanna do is play Burnout Paradise." That game, especially with a wheel, is so incredibly entertaining.

Online only play allows for security of the Auction house which keeps the in game economy stable for the players who choose to use it. It has its benefits.

I'm getting slaughtered in Max Payne 3 even though I was an Ace in the first two, and I stubbornly don't want to lower the difficulty back to normal. Any tips? by Massgyoin Games

I say that because on easy and normal mode, the enemies presumably do less damage/take more damage, so you'll be able to do the bullet time diving with less risk of dying.

Is Techland not making Dead Island 2? by zakislamin Games

I appreciate when games implement interesting mechanics and the combat in Dead Island was such. Also, calling me a fanboy does nothing really to combat my argument.

If one of the main sources of fun in a game is creative combat, and you choose not to kill creatively, then you're missing the point. If someone gives you Lego and all you choose to make is a cube, you'd think Lego were boring too.

No i wasn't actually. Sorry if i wasn't clear enough, what made you think i meant that?

If combat is fun, but you decide not to partake in it, then how can you complain about it? Just because you didn't do something doesn't remove it from consideration on the quality of a game. Also, there were enemies designed so that simply hitting them in the head wasn't a viable option.

Do you mind my asking how long you actually played the game before passing judgment on it?

I think the dynamic combat was HUGE. Think of melee combat in a game like Skyrim, where it's basically swingswingswingswingswingswing enemy dead. In Dead Island, with dynamic mode, you had full control over the combat. The thugs were gigantic beefy monsters, but if you aim your blows to break and chop off their arms, they become completely defenseless. If you're on the side of a big cliff and a zombies running at you, a well placed swing of a bat to the zombies head can send him flying over the cliff to his death. If you're surrounded by zombies just flick the stick horizontally and clear a path, or if you've got one big zombie infront of you, a vertical downward swipe to knock his head off.

And along with that, the way they did broken bones and cut off limbs was absolutely fantastic. You could look at a zombie, arms rigid, running at you, and thwack him in the elbow and you can see the arm just go limp and wiggle around as they move, and when the limbs tore off, the dangly left over skin and the blood coming out, they pulled off the effect really well.

I agree there were bad parts to the game, but I wouldn't call the game itself bad. It did some cool things, and at least for the island section, was a really cool open world zombie game with combat that was a blast.

The games fine and fun. Playing with dynamic controls and co-op is a total blast. I understand the launch was bugged, but getting the game now it's pretty great in the island setting.
