dl4 and vox are a great combo. Especially for ambient stuff, but really is versatile enough for whatever you want.

I completed part of my life today. I can now die peacefully. by jam-biscuitin gaming

I did this probably a year after I received red and blue for Christmas. If you go to celadon city (I think. It's the big one in the middle) There is a scientist dude on the roof that will give you a certificate or diploma for completing the pokedex.

I remember being so proud having actually beaten the game. Also I am just as proud for having caught Mewtwo with an ultra ball instead of the masterball because I thought there might be some awesomer pokemon out there.

See, I don't even know most of what you are saying there. Most of my experience is that everything other than Pretty Hate Machine and The Downward Spiral is ignored. Whereas, I think those are mediocre, but the left disc is phenomenal.

Are you ever more into the 'sound' of an album than the actual band/musician? by pianothermsin LetsTalkMusic

Dead Meadow. They opened for the Black Angels, I was/am in awe of how much potential they have but at how bad they are. They are so close to being good.

The Fragile, (left side) is a perfect album to me.

Hail to the Thief is not considered a bad album, and Pablo Honey is only considered bad when in comparison to the rest of Radiohead's catalogue.

Is there music you once hated but now like? by eagle628in LetsTalkMusic

[–]almostdvs 0 points1 point ago

One of my neighbor friends drove me to school and he had dark side of the moon playing everyday for about 2 months. I thought it was ok at first but it soon wore out for me. I think it's a phenomenal album now, but he was still a jackass stoner for playing it nonstop.

I think people like GBMS well enough but when you think White Stripes, listening to their piano centric album jumps to mind. Similarly, some of my friends think Icky Thump is trash and I think it's their 2nd best album behind their self-titled.

Pinkerton is so perfect I've never really bothered with looking into their other albums. I shall now check some of their other stuff.

"Band of Gypsys" is so much better than the Experience albums. I don't know any one who claims to be a true Hendrix fan but all I hear about is experience stuff.

The Religion teacher couldn't answer that question... by pleasant02in PhilosophyofReligion

[–]almostdvs 0 points1 point ago*

I think it might be a sin so that we do not create unnecessary dissatisfaction with what we have. Generally identified as a buddhist sentiment, really. Coming up with God's reasoning is something I usually try to avoid though, because it assumes we can understand something incomprehensible which is bad logic.

God's rules are for our own good, not necessarily indications of what is absolutely good. God doesn't want us to be absolutely good, He says that is impossible only He can do it; God wants us to love and obey Him. God is "allowed" to be jealous because he deserves it?

Yes, dictatorship in this instance, from God and his followers point of view is not bad. Most people would agree that a non-partial dictator with incomparable wisdom would be a great form of government. You could compare it to our rule over the house dog/cat, or children; they might not like that you deny them things that you yourself enjoy but it legitimately is for their own good and not to lord it over them.

What is your opinion regarding themes? by secondplanetin LetsTalkMusic

[–]almostdvs 1 point2 points ago

When they pull through, they're fucking amazing. When they don't the music is just however good the artist is at writing music, except they tried to do something with it that doesn't matter to the listener. I might be coming at this wrong though, mostly I'm thinking of some operas, and a few albums that try to create certain atmospheres.

Are there any trackers that specialize/have a large and organized library of tutorial and e-learning videos? by alt_account_in trackers

[–]almostdvs 4 points5 points ago

it's "you're welcome" you asshat. There is no link in the sidebar and no described interview process.

So let's pretend altaccount is an adventurer and wants access to some magical library. And you're some dude in a bar where he thinks he might find a way of getting to said library. So altaccount walks into the bar and asks "Hey, does anyone know where a magical library is? And you reply "I know exactly where it is! I go to the island it's on every Wednesday." So he says "Great, how do I get there?". And you come back with "Well you need a special boat, and I probably can get you a special boat, but I don't want to, or you can ask someone else for a special boat, and I know who you could ask, but I don't feel like telling you that either."

Sounds to me like you're an asshat. Here that everyone mantra2 is an asshat. Good day, Sir.

I was very disappointed with Watch The Throne as well, but I just put Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy back in and was appeased.
