That't what I'm doing this year too! Good luck. So far I'm planning on some blackberry and raspberry bushes, multicolored peppers, lettuce, spinach, and kohlrabi. I'm going to have a few raised beds, and plant some flowers and flowering herbs in there to make it pretty AND tasty! Keep us posted.

Have you ever seen your dad cry? by TheKiddin AskReddit

[–]alisoni 0 points1 point ago

When my dad was growing up, his family was dirt poor. One winter when he was 5 or so his mother could not pay for coal to heat their home. The coal truck driver showed up as regularly scheduled, and his mother went outside to tell him that she could not afford the bill this month, and to be on his way. The delivery driver then proceeded to drop off the coal anyways, telling her that he couldn't stand knowing that a woman and her young boy were freezing during the winter.

I have never seen my father cry until the day he told me this story.

The second time I saw him tear up was when he dropped me off at college a few hundred miles away from home.

How does one go about gauging their ears? by sqrt-1loveyouin AskReddit

I have mine at a 0 now, and a lot of people don't even notice that they are stretched at all. Sadly I think I've reached my breaking point, 00 tapers, talons, anything will never go. Bleh.

Good luck!

This year I want to avoid giving any business to Monsanto, to any companies owned by Monsanto, or any companies that do business with Monsanto. by jenniferwillowin gardening

Love rareseeds.com. Tomatoes from there grew like no one's business last year. And they set a free pack of flower seeds too.=D

EDIT: Request a magazine. So worth it.

Hi girls. I'm a dude, and my ladyfriend is having a colposcopy + LEEP performed on her this week for cervical cancer. Do you have any advice for me/her? by OneXnocluein TwoXChromosomes

[–]alisoni 1 point2 points ago

I just went in for my after LEEP check up today! It's not TERRIBLE. I took 2 days off work just to lay around and relax. If she has already had a biopsy done (which is pretty common) let her know that, for me at least, the biopsy was more uncomfortable than the LEEP itself. Just stock up on some liners, some flavored water, and some snacks. My gyno recommended a low sugar, low carb, high protein diet to aid in healing.

My boyfriend got together some magazines, comfortable jammie pants, a new video games, and made sure we had plenty of food options for my restricted diet. Then he just sat around with me and hung out. It really helped combat the bordom and he also doubled as my ibprofen handler. =D

All in all don't make too big of a deal about the procedure itself. Listen to her when she's freaking out at 2 am the night before the procedure. Make sure she's comfortable afterwards.

Tell her good luck for me! Success rates are through the roof with this. I'm healing up just fine 4 weeks after I had it done, as most girls will. If either you or her need to talk, or have specific questions about what the procedure, aftercare, or recovery is like feel free to PM me. If she doesn't have reddit I would be happy to email too.

Take care! <3

2x, I'm terrified. Abnormal pap smear, and I've been putting off a colposcopy for 6 months by startstopandstartin TwoXChromosomes

[–]alisoni 2 points3 points ago*

I just had to have testing, and a LEEP procedure done, and all in all it cost me about $1,200. (Illinois) I set up a payment plan with my gyno (most doctors and hospitals will do this) to pay it off over 4 months. The thing here is, the longer you let this go untreated the more dangerous AND costly it is going to be to fix it down the road. Cervical cancer is easily treatable, it is not to easily treatable once it spread to your bladder, kidneys, and so on. If you need to talk or have more questions feel free to PM me.

Please get this checked out soon. I skipped a yearly exam one year and then I found out I had high grade dysplasia and some benign cancer growth. If I had been proactive I could have had it treated when I was only in mild dysplasia and it would have been much cheaper and much easier.

EDIT: Also, if you want a breakdown of all my expenses I'd be happy to share. All in all I ended up having to do 2 paps, 1 coloscopy, 1 biopsy, 3 tissue biopsy tests, and 1 LEEP procedure. I'll go in for another coloscopy in a few weeks to see if the LEEP took care of everything, but other than that I should be out of the woods.
