Starbucks doesn't work that way actually, most Starbucks have the new Mastrena espresso machine which can pull a solo shot. Also, Venti's still only have 2 shots, not 3 like SBC. Oh, and also I (& everyone I worked with) always asked the person if they would like an extra shot for free in their coffee instead of pouring it down the drain with the old espresso machines.
