thats what the FN2 is, a newer type r. with a torsion beam. the older one is independent rear control arms. thats where honda messed up. they brought a lesser car, offered as the top model, to replace the previous, more superior one. don't get me wrong i like the looks of it inside and out. but people usually buy type r's for performance, not just the badge.

if you were talking about other civics, not the type-r platform, then even the previous and current models offer independent rear control arms, as far as i know.
