TROPHY CASE

Welcome to /r/junioraudiophiles by Zeppelanoidin junioraudiophiles

I think a ELI5 thread dealing with some of what some of the "specifications," (i.e. wattage, impedance, input types) mean and general acronym demystification is a good idea.

If you come into an audiophile forum with only $50 you're gonna have a bad time. by Freezerburnin audiophile

Or just a community to field questions about entering the hobby? I think this community has great sidebar resources that occasionally get ignored, (which, is why I never have posted until this thread, I've spent most of the time just reading and processing) but perhaps there would be enough interest in something like /junioraudiophiles?

Actually, all my gear (so far) is used or employee discounted. (It helps to have nice friends.) I kind of assumed the same principles applied from musical amps/equipment (being that it's a much better buy to go used) and it was reinforced here in /audiophile! :)

Glad you posted that build too. Those speakers may not be the best, but they acted the gateway drug for me and once I decided I had to try a pair it made living in Dayton Ohio USEFUL for once. (Parts Express' showroom is a little south of town, so no excuses for me!)

I was going to buy a bench for my porch when I found this in front of a neighbor's house. It should be better than new this weekend... by confused_dwarfin Frugal

What are planning on doing to restore it? I have a very similar bench in roughly the same condition, but have no idea where to start.

General lurker here: I've learned a lot from this subreddit and while I agree, I think the pursuit of audio quality and the most "quality-for-dollar" is a noble one. If /audiophile has taught me anything it's: Yes, it's going to take considerable money to get something arguably great, but it doesn't have to take a lot of money to make well-informed and good decisions. That's where you guys come in and I thank you for it, it's been one of the most helpful subreddits I've ever subscribed to.

I admire your relentlessness and affinity for the one and half vowels you argue for, kid. Have an upvote.

Airport designation? Yes. Colloquially? No. Sorry though. I don't like "OMG" either, but I'm hardly annoyed by seeing it anymore.

The important x-factor in the study is the price of homes were compared to relative salaries in the area. I'm sure there is a cheaper housing stock in shit-holes like Camden NJ, East St. Louis or any city in West Virginia, but pay was factored in. Go DYT.

Anddd Dayton drank them dry. Showed up around 9:30 PM on saturday and only the porter remained and they won't have enough beer to open again for two more weeks.

How's that for a first week of business? :D

Sure. FTS: "The event is self-organized by everyone who participates. Come on over and feel free to bring goods, services, skills, performances, stories, crafts, food, games, music, clothing, furniture, plants, workshops, and resources to give and share with others in the community. There is no buying, selling or exchanging involved—in this market, everything is strictly free."

First saturday of every month @ Garden Station on Wayne. I don't normally go, but I know the person that organizes it well and she has very similar interests to the OP.

Anyone going to the Urban Nights festival tomorrow? by MeepZeroin dayton

[–]airrore 0 points1 point ago

It ain't much for atmosphere, but goddamn the drinks are cheap.

If you can stand crappy beer, giant cans of old mill were $2. Cheapest place to drink in downtown!

It's a good bet. I remember people complaining to me about not allowing (or being able to allow, more accurately) alcohol in the DDC, my response was always "DUDE, the cheapest bar IMAGINABLE is next door, just go there!" I also remember the bartender handing me a PINT glass of Johnny Walker black for very little money. How does that place stay open?

Question: this got brought up a bunch during the short lived DDC.

Is it pronounced BING ERS (rhymes with ringers) or is it BINGE RS? (like Binge drinking.)

What's your favourite song? by Rilkalin audiophile

[–]airrore 0 points1 point ago

I agree mostly, but one thing that I didn't expect is that it seems like a lot of younger folk (I am in my late 20's, so younger than that) seem to quote him often from my limited interaction with tumblr, so it might have just been a matter of time. I hear the song "Smile" and even though it's a really well crafted, heartfelt song that deserves praise for the risk alone, I can't help but see huge mainstream appeal in it. *It's a guidance counselor's wet dream. Regardless, he is certainly deserving of attention, glad you included him. RIP indeed.

*edit: the chorus and tone of the song, perhaps not the verses.

Thanks, folks for suggestions on where to move to in dayton. Secondly, what are good websites to look for places to live, besides craigslist? by monkyboy74in dayton

Honestly, driving around looking for "for rent" signs seems to be the best approach, but even the Oregon District wordpress links to CL.

Mysterious Human Foot Found in Miami River by SoupCanNortin dayton

It is. Which sounds like a contradiction, because... well it is. It's actually an OK place surveyed as an adult, just was the target of much my silly teenage ire, exacerbated by not having a car most the time or playing high school football.

Makes sense. I'm from Germantown and that place often made me consider suicide while residing there.
