FYI its a $100.00 fee every three years for the Chicago Firearms Permit and then $15.00 per year per gun (handgun or long gun).

I understand. However, the use of a firearm in any manner should only be used in a state of self defense (except recreationally) and therefore it is assumed that if you pull the weapon out your life is in danger.

The biggest rule to follow is never take out a gun without the intention of using it. Brandishing a weapon while may seem like a logical response would create far more problems than it would solve.

There are three stages. FOID. CFP. Individual gun registration.

The foid is easy to get and everyone in Illinois who wants a gun must get. Ther is a form you need to mail to the state police along with a 10.00 dollar check. The foid card takes 3-5 weeks to get but it is valid for 10 years.

The CFP is an ordinance that requires cook county residents to get before they purchase/own a firearm. In order to get the CFP one must take a 5 hour state sponsored class that goes over the laws. It requires you to have one hour of shooting so you have to take his class outside of cook county as there are no gun rangesin cook co. After taking the class you have to apply in person for the CFP at a police station. The price is 100.00 and is valid for 3 years.

The gun registration is easy and you can do it by mail. 10.00 per gun. That said i hve heard that registration will go away within the next few years and they will just jack the CFP price.

Chicago is a great city and has so much to offer sadly the gun rights are lacking. Neveletheless, the laws are changong albeit slowly. IL will legalize cc.

Another point to make clear is to make a distinction between laws and ordinaces. The chicago ORDIANCES are not IL laws.the most a chicago cop can do is fine you and take the gun away defintely no criminal charges.

I actually saw that they were making a new movie half way through the book. The trailer does look good indeed and the cast superb. I am interested to see how the film shapes up as the book starts by having the reader in the dark and filling in the pieces through a series of flashbacks that help unwind the puzzle.
