Ghosthunters has been on the air since 2004. How long would you keep watching a show called "Moosehunters", if they never saw or heard a single fucking Moose? by massivecoilerin AskReddit

My dad always said 'That's why they call it hunting/fishing and not killing/catching'.

I beg to differ... I am an AVID hunter and haven't harvested an animal in 2 years. It's a lot harder than people tend to give it credit for. Most people think you just step outta your car and the animals are all waiting for you.

Just reminded me what my dad always says when I get frustrated out hunting... 'That's why they call it hunting and not killing'. Or similar, 'That's why they call it fishing and not catching'.

Or when they assume they know the typical distance between footprints... See footprints on the ground that are 8' apart, 'A sasquatch has a typical gait of 8 feet'. HOW DO YOU KNOW THIS SINCE NO ONE HAS SEEN ONE!?

Man, that show cracked me up. They'd find some funny footprints and then make outlandish statements like 'A typical sasquatch has a gait of 8 feet'... I'm like... REALLY? HOW DO YOU KNOW THAT SINCE YOU NEVER SAW ONE?!

It cracked me up so much. 'That's a squatch!'

Tell me about it... I looked through damn near all of these without blinking. And the second I read 'They had no choice', really shook me up.

I remember what happened, sitting around with my family watching the TV... But I must have been JUST under an age where I would've known really what was happening. Just remember the images of the building coming down.

I was a freshman in high school as well... I remember it was damn near my first day, and my mom was driving me to school. We had gotten in the car, must've been minutes after the first plane hit. We were listening to our local hip-hop station (cool mom) and the normal jokers of the morning had a somber sound to their voices, saying that the World Trade Center had been hit by a plane. My mom said that she thinks they were joking, and I told her, No mom, I'm pretty sure they aren't. So she changed to a news channel and heard it. She immediately started crying and I was old enough to know what was going on, but still young enough to not know who Osama bin Laden or any of them were, so I had no idea what had happened or what was happening.

It really gives me the chills when I think how much my life has changed since that day. Had it not been for that day, I don't know if I would have grown up the way I have, the same views, etc. It really changed everything I knew at the moment.

Also, I live in Colorado, but my father was on a business trip in Chicago on 9/11, was staying across the street from the Sears Tower. We hadn't spoke with him that morning yet, and I remember getting a note at school from an office lady in the middle of class, dated '9/11/01' and it is written on the bottom 'Your dad's fine!! :)' and I have never felt so much happiness! In fact, I still have that note at my home. He said they evacuated his hotel building that morning in fear of one striking the Sears Tower.

The fact that I wasn't around (by a long shot) when this happened has always made me wonder how the country, and the world, would react if this were to happen nowadays, with all the social media and easy-to-access news. I think it would be much like a 9/11 situation, I was young for that, but man, I remember it like it was yesterday.

But from Oblivion to Skyrim was what, 10 years? People that like CoD (I like both, so I don't have a horse in this race) are going to argue that they don't have to wait a decade for a new game. And after 10 years, I guarantee both games have come about the same distance since their original... If that makes sense, hard to type out what I'm thinking.

But you can't always look at it from your own point of view... You waiting 10 years for Skyrim to up itself from Oblivion with ONE game, is the equivalent of Call of Duty upping itself year after year for ten years. If that makes sense, kind of hard to describe what I'm trying to say.

Basically, CoD fan is going to say he gets a new game every year, whereas you have to wait 10 years for a new game. After 10 years, they've both expanded and changed dramatically.

Uncharted is the most similar to CoD, in that it is a rehash every year. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Uncharted, the whole series is probably my favorite in gaming history. But take a mile-high view at the series. The gameplay has not changed ANYthing dramatically, they just think of a new treasure hunt every year. Same as CoD, they have a different storyline that has a lot to do with the previous one.

Modern Warfare 3 is just a rehash of the same stuff.

OK, but look at the other games you play that you're trying to defend here. Skyrim is a rehash of Oblivion with arguably better graphics. Other games are similar to their previous games as well... GTA and Red Dead are templated off of previous GTA games, but no one complained. Uncharted!! A fan favorite. They are all the same game with a new paintjob... no one complained. That's all videogames are ever going to be.

That's the explanation everyone uses to denegrate the CoD series. I'm not a fanboy by any means, I play CoD, I play Uncharted-type games, I play Battlefield, I play Bioshock, Skyrim, GTA, Red Dead and the list goes on. But pretty much every one of the games I just mentioned has sequels or something of the like that they're based off of and they're pretty damn similar. Uncharted 3 is similar to Uncharted 1 and 2, but no one complained. Bioshock 2 was similar to Bioshock 1, no one complained. Skyrim is similar to Oblivion, no one complained.

All of these companies are going to change minimal things and release a new game to get more money. It's common business sense, make a new product with the least amount of effort (templating off previous games) and maximize profits. And as long as we keep buying games like them, which isn't going to stop ANYtime soon (no matter how big the 'don't buy ____' boycotts are), we're going to keep being fed the same games with new paintjobs.

WAW=dead though.

Really? Out of MW, WaW, MW2, BlOps and MW3, 5 games, you picked 1 game that isn't doing well and chose that to represent that entire group? I think MW2 would probably be more fair to be representative of the group, and that game still has people playing it 3 years later. I don't think MW3 is anywhere near its death, we're only 6 months from its release date and it is probably more packed now than it ever has been. I don't really play it anymore (haven't in 3 months), but all of my old friends are still on it daily. As much as people hate to admit it, CoD is here to stay and it isn't going anywhere.

While amount of sales doesn't equal quality, it is not a completely non-correlating set. People don't buy shitty games in the volumes that people buy MW games. So, sure, sales don't equal quality, but it is not a shitty game by far. Sales DOES show that.

While there may not be a direct correlation between sales and quality, there is something to be said for the amount of sales. It doesn't just reflect on the marketing team like someone (maybe you, didn't check...EDIT: Nope, not you haha) said earlier. People don't buy shitty games in the way they buy MW, MW2 and MW3. Just because it's not your cup of tea doensn't make it a crappy game haha.

I hate to disappoint you, but people are still playing the first Modern Warfare, and MW2 has quite the following as well. And Black Ops is still crammed full of people. So... I'm sure MW3 will be being played for at least the next couple years.

Demon's Souls NA servers are going to be shut down by the end of May. by craigerin PS3

Hmm... I was reading through the trophy guide on ps3t a couple weeks back, I don't recall it saying multiplayer was required to platinum.

Anyway, does the game switch between black and white or what? I've never played, recently ordered the game, waiting on its arrival.

Should still be able to get platinum without online tho correct? That would basically just make it a little easier...
