TROPHY CASE

The Great Gatsby - Official Trailer by Pigs_On_The_Wingin videos

[–]_zurich 25 points26 points ago

I think the idea is that the movie will win an oscar, and thus put 3D movies in the spotlight at the oscars. I don't think they're saying that the film could magically win a category that does not exist.

I could barely even read it. All those random lines of dialogue, with no indication who said the quote or what the fuck was going on. It wasn't an article so much as a diarrhea of random, poorly formatted information.

But..you used a false fact to make your point. I just wanted to correct that.

I..what? I didn't say it was impossible for people to have a large vocabulary. I was just pointing out that "you imbecile!" reminds me of some preteen spluttering through their braces, excited to use a word that will totally make them sound intelligent and not at all pretentious.

And I am clearly aware that vocab is just a shortened form of vocabulary.

First of all, that's a venti. Which is absurdly large anyway. Maybe you should try a tall, which is what most people would give their kids. Second of all, you chose the first link you found when you searched "calories in grande strawberries and cream frappucino". You'll find that the information on how many calories are in that drink vary, but most say somewhere between 200 and 600

Whenever anyone says something like "you imbecile!" I imagine a 14 year old kid thinking his new vocab word makes him sound smarter

They absolutely do not have 800 calories. You're thinking of like a large milkshake from a fast food place, not a starbucks frappuccino.

Reddit, I just ironed my clothes with a pot off the stove. How have you improvised to get by? by C3LM3Rin AskReddit

[–]_zurich 1 point2 points ago

Interesting because that's actuallly what an iron used to be. People would heat up iron pans on the stove and use them to iron their clothing. That's where the name comes from. Then they started creating actual pieces of metal called irons so that you didn't have to use your saucepan, and nowadays we have electric irons.

I think OP is referring to the emotional experience those guys are having, not to the fact that it's a concert.

Reddit, my GF has a mustache and some beard hairs. How do I ask her nicely to shave it off? by moustachegirlin AskReddit

[–]_zurich 1 point2 points ago

If you want to test if she knows about it, buy one of those super magnifying mirrors, or next time you go to target or something, go look at the super magnifying mirrors. Stand in front of it and be like "it's so weird when you look at your face this closely" etc. She'll look in the mirror too. Now there are 3 possibilities:

  1. She'll notice the hairs and exclaim "Oh my god I have a mustache this is disgusting"
  2. She'll quietly notice the hairs and fix them
  3. She already knows and won't say anything. Maybe she'll realize they're worse than she thought, or maybe she just doesn't care.

Anyway it can't do any harm to try

What do you do, or refuse to do, in the name of pride? by froststarein AskReddit

[–]_zurich 5 points6 points ago

Just be aware that sometimes you are definitely wrong and you may actually be the douche in this situation. And one day you'll have to apologize for something you know you didn't do, and it will be terrible, but you'll have to do it just to keep your job or whatever. Just be prepared.
