What, you can tell by the pixels?

To me, it just looks like the arm holding the magazine belongs to the guy in the blue hat.

You know what ticks me off the most about being an opinionated exmormon? by 089786in exmormon

I'm convinced that to a lot of these guys, the only thing worse than being an apostate is being a liberal (or maybe a gay liberal).

"unbelievably affordable" = $995 minimum. For my project, $7220. Sounds like pretty shady messaging to me, I'll pass without even looking at it.

Anyone who says "pay no attention to that man behind the curtain" knows about the man behind the curtain.

Recently became an exmo. I have some questions about how Joseph Smith created the Book of Mormon. by Simplypalein exmormon

[–]WipeHandsOnPants 9 points10 points ago

The "ignorant farm boy" argument again...

You do realize there were several people involved in the production of the BoM, right? Oliver Cowdery was certainly involved, see this.

There are other plausible theories like Spalding-Rigdon.

Ask yourself this, if the book is of divine origin why is it wrong on just about every single point of pre-Columbian America?

I keep hearing Docs have nowhere near the quality they used to have. Makes me sad.

Without a doubt the most chilling book I've read on early Mormonism. If you have a few hours and a strong stomach, it's worth a look. by WipeHandsOnPantsin exmormon

This description falls way short of the heartbreaking way that she tells her story.

Does your ex spouse get notified of a dissolved temple marriage if you withdraw your name from the church's records? by caliomniin exmormon

[–]WipeHandsOnPants 5 points6 points ago

sealing of the parents is ... revoked by the excommunication or name removal of either parent.

Huh. I read that the opposite, I think it's pretty much flat out saying that either excommunication or name removal revokes the sealing of the spouses.

LPT: Get rid of sweaty privates, fat rolls, and butt cracks NSFW by faxinatingin LifeProTips

You still sweat, it just evaporates immediately because the air is so dry. Evaporation cools you, so it works out really nicely. 115 in Vegas is better than 90 in Houston.

Don't know if this is the right place for this but I'm writing a book. Am I allowed to quote scriptures from the BOM or is it copyright protected? by Falling_angelin exmormon

[–]WipeHandsOnPants 1 point2 points ago

Yes and no. The text itself is public domain (because you can't copyright something that is already in the public domain), but the introduction, chapter headings, indexes, maps, pictures, etc., are all copyrighted. See this discussion.

How far did you get before calling it quits? Have your experiences made it more difficult to quit? by CalmWalkerin exmormon

[–]WipeHandsOnPants 3 points4 points ago

President of everything until age 18 (big whoop), then studied church history and stopped believing, so no mission.

Worked as an on-line critic of mormonism for a few years on CompuServe before the internet was big, then for a few years on alt.religion.mormon. Also ran a website for a few years. We helped flip quite a few people, I loved getting those emails. I count those years as my "mission".

At present I'm just chillin' with you fine folks.

Fun fact: The whole reason Joseph Smith fled to Missouri wasn't because of "persecution", it was to escape an arrest warrant for illegal banking.
