My advice: - Don't tell anyone except your immediate family until you get to 3 months. Not to be a negative nelly, but miscarriage chances are high (happened to us) and very normal for a first pregnancy.

• Take a birth class (such as Bradley), you will hopefully make new parent friends, which becomes amazingly important once you pop that kid out.

• Take advantage of Paid Family Leave if you have it

• If your wife tells you to read a book, read it.

• She will start nesting at some point, it is your job do as she says (and add your own ideas).

• Enjoy your hobbies now. I don't play video games, all my hobbies are art and vintage cars and motorcycles. I feel very guilty if I try to sneak out. Your life will be in 3 hour increments once that baby is out.

• You will think you will never sleep again the first week, possibly more. Hopefully things mellow out quick, like they did for us. My wife's mom's group is filled with stressed out and exhausted moms.

• Cloth diapers are REALLY easy and save a lot of money. We use Bum Genius Flip diapers.

• Hopefully your wife's boobies work and the baby latches easily. If not, formula may be your only option. No worries. Formula makes the baby a bit more constipated and stinky than breast milk.

• If you have a birth plan, prepare for it to go out the window during labor.

• It's really hard to screw up being a parent. And you can't spoil a newborn.

• Consider the first 3 months of the baby's life the Forth Trimester. Learn the 5 S's (Happiest Baby on the Block). Swaddling will become your best tactic for sleep (for everyone).
