http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/a_bird_in_the_hand_is_worth_two_in_the_bush

It is preferable to have a small but certain advantage than a mere potential of a greater one.

i.e. Having a bird in your hand is better than 2 birds sitting in the bush because you don't have the 2 birds, only an oppotunity to get the 2 birds assuming you have some kind of 2 bird fetish

You Can't POP Your Cherry! (HYMEN 101) - I wish I knew this when I was a virgin. Also, Laci Green rocks. by mellowmeadowin sex

[–]WarzoneOfDefecation 17 points18 points ago

This is actually pretty good, I think it answers a lot of questions young kids would have when learning about sex ed. I dont even remember highschool sex ed having taught as much about the hymen. All that was said was that it would tear during your first time and not really any explanation of why a tampon doesn't do the same.

Actually most people do understand these things have value, why people bash it is because there are a glut of students taking the programs that have very intangible benefits to society. We already don't need the high number of graudates of said majors because they frankly can't find a job afterwards. I love the idea of making education more accessible, but I very much don't love the idea of having even more graduates of these programs that don't contribute to society after graduation in any significant sense. When society only needs X number of graduates of program Y, the X+1th graduate of program Y is only contributing a marginal amount back into society.

These precious resources (youth/time/money) are better allocated elsewhere.

Apple iPhone charger teardown shows you almost get what you pay for. by coffeetablesexin technology

Its true, macbook airs are fucking great, its thin and light but expensive, but then you get Dell and Lenovo and everybody else trying to emulate it and they come in at just $100 cheaper for the same specs. At that price point, I mind as well just buy the MBA and have the option of using OS X or Windows.

Its been true for a while now, the best windows laptop is a Macbook.

CS grad here, I use a Mac and I love them. I was a windows and then linux guy all the way up to a few years after I graduated. I've gone from one end of the spectrum to the other so I understand the hater mentality. But no its not just for n00bs, quite a few tech people use macs with good reason. And you'll always see quite a few macbook pros at dev conferences.

I still run linux as a server, and there's nothing wrong with using it, I'm perfectly fine using it, but I just like using my Mac better.

I'm with you, lurching on the advanced left green light happens everywhere. Its just a natural reaction when people get used to going when they detect motion. If anything, it probably has more to do with people being more distracted behind the wheel these days than before.

Live in Brampton, I'd argue Indian drivers are slightly worse than (East) Asian drivers.

[–]WarzoneOfDefecation 0 points1 point ago

Maybe in China, but that has not been my experience in HK, HK drivers are actually pretty good in general cause the roads are often tight and windy that they have to pay attention.

EDIT: I should add that Asians do tend to be bad drivers in general, and thats because most people from asian don't drive, and when they come to Canada, they just don't get trained very well, not to mention a lot of them are learning as adults instead of as children, and lets face it, learning stuff at an older age is hard. This is the case for many other countries as well, Indian drivers are bad (I live in Brampton), and its because of the same reason, they never drove back in India either.

You can't be serious, I feel like the 407 is the easiest to drive of all the highways, and I drive the stretch that cuts through GTA regularly. Besides the cost factor, I'm inclined to think you are just afraid to drive on highways.

Agreed, I drive both regularly and I'd say Brampton is slightly worse.

[–]WarzoneOfDefecation 3 points4 points ago

It does not, it is specifically meant to say that the show was so desperate that it inserted a dumb gimmick, such as jumping the shark. It does not mean its a good episode at all.

Max Payne 3 Review by asskickingjediin Games

[–]WarzoneOfDefecation 0 points1 point ago

Classic potion anxiety. I have it too, collecting tons of potions in RPGs but never using them, cause damned if i use that instead of a heal spell when my mana is more or less free.

What if I NEED those potions later? I think i've beat many rpgs without ever using those damned potions. I am glad i've started to ease up on this now that i'm older, i'll potion now for the fact that i'm too lazy/time constrained to do it "perfectly"
