Well, that's a good point and I should probably expand on what I said. I'm not saying we shouldn't try to detect faking patients, just that it doesn't need to be a priority.

I'm probably a bit biased here due to the dozens and dozens of times that I've had coworkers get ridiculously overzealous with all these checks. There are a lot of folks out there who seem to enjoy taking the sternal rubs, fingernail-squeezes, eye-poking, and arm-pinching way too far.

I say, just do an arm-drop or a sternal rub and then get on with the call. The result of the arm-drop/sternal rub becomes part of my report to the receiving nurse and that's that.
