As much as I agree that Google is better, and am glad for the switch back, the OSM ones definitely got a lot better over the past month or two. At the rate they were improving, I wouldn't have minded using them in a few months.

I'm glad to hear other people play games like this. A few years back one of my friends randomly started doing something where he would just try to get you to say "what?" any way he could. Once you did, he'd pause a few seconds, then say nooooootttthhhh^{iiii^{iiii^{iiii^nnng}}}

It hasn't really been done much lately, but every once in a while I'll get a friend to say "what?" and just stare at them until they figure out that I got them. As soon as that look of foolish stupidity comes over their face, I finish off the exchange with the nooooootttthhhh^{iiii^{iiii^{iiii^nnng}}}

I never really understood that. They let middle schoolers tackle each other with no real supervision, but as soon as you give it an offensive name then they have problems with it.

AFAIK it isn't legal to drink on the beaches. There have been groups of people that get inner tubes and go out in the water and drink, since it's legal to drink in the water.

I'm not 100% sure, though.

Agree on the traumatic experiences part. While I enjoy most veggies, I've avoid creamed spinach for the past 15+ years due to a traumatic experience. I had some the other day, and while I don't prefer it to broccoli/cauliflower, it wasn't as bad as I remembered (of course).

On a similar vein to pwthornton's question, are most of the technical facilities needed for their research provided free of charge, or is it up to them to secure the equipment they need?

If the former, what do students need to be able to do to first get access to the research equipment?

Under the first-to-invent system an inventor has up to a year to file a patent app (either a full app or a provisional) from when an invention is disclosed to the public. Under the first-to-file system, as soon as an invention is disclosed to the public it is no longer possible to patent.

In most countries with the first to file system, as soon as it's presented in public nobody can patent it.

Even if it was completely undisputed that I invented something, if I showed it in public today then tomorrow I couldn't file a patent on it.

You started on Sunday? Come back in 2 weeks if you still have problems. Keep track of your weight, but at the same time ignore it (if that makes any sense). Daily (or even weekly) fluctuations happen, and aren't the end of the world.

My weight frequently jumps around a few pounds, but whenever it has been up for a few days in a row I just plot all my weights on keto, and the overall trend makes me feel better.
