This can be true. I do use a sleeve for the laptop., and another small case for tiny parts.

I use one of these, and while not light, they have a 100 year warranty: Saddleback Leather.

It comes configured as a standard over-the-shoulder bag, but can be converted to an unwieldy backpack.

I find that backpacks don't have the same professional appearance as a shoulder bag, but that's just my opinion.
