Hawkeye is feeling fabulous by thelitprofessorin funny

[–]TheSnop 0 points1 point ago

I thought the same thing, but I was recently watching it and I think we're both remembering the show with a huge amount of nostalgia. The show is pretty awful if you try to watch it now. Hopefully the revival takes more of a "Chappelle Show" approach to sketch comedy and less of an SNL approach.

You're in luck then. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_Living_Color#Revival

On October 28, 2011, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Fox has announced In Living Color is scheduled to return in 2012, airing two half-hour specials hosted and executive produced by co-creator Keenen Ivory Wayans, with the option of picking the series up for the following season.[4] The show is a "contemporary take" on the original premise, with new performers and musical performances.[5]

New cast members announced include Jennifer Bartels, Josh Duvendeck, Jermaine Fowler, Kali Hawk, Milton "Lil' Rel" Howery, and Maronzio Vance

It's just an annoying trend on reddit where EVERYTHING is some kind of porn.

Are the sunglasses that cost more than $50 (or even more than $250) really any better than those that cost $5? Is it all about fashion, or are there some that are extremely well built? by SmellsLikeUpfooin answers

[–]TheSnop 0 points1 point ago

These are glasses though, not cars. I've never seen a justification for $500 sunglasses that weren't lined with diamonds. I agree with your general point, but I think that's where the difference between $5 and $70 pairs come in, a Ford and an Aston Martin.

Odd request: need a list maker that can act as a safe food list by deedubyain androidapps

[–]TheSnop 0 points1 point ago

Not exactly designed for what you want but I could think of a way to get it to work.
MightyGrocery (lite), but instead of Stores make lists, and then add the foods to the list that you've deemed Safe or Unsafe. When you click them it adds them to the shopping cart, or you can move them between lists and sync to the cloud? It has the added bonus of dropdown menus as your search for food. A spreadsheet program might be easier, though.

'Soccer' vs Football. So TRUE by Cowboy_Bebopin videos

[–]TheSnop 0 points1 point ago

As an American, I rarely hear the "low score" argument against soccer. American Football may end a game at 21-14 but that's really 3-2 if the scores weren't worth more points, and no one here seems to have a problem with that.

I think the problem 90% of us has is that 1) We don't know what we're watching because it's not that hyped over here, and it's boring to watch something you don't understand, and 2) The amount of flopping. By not understanding the rules our only experience with soccer as non-fans are youtube clips of the lamest plays.

The low score doesn't help and the seemingly arbitrary half lengths confuse some of us, but I wouldn't put the blame solely on the score.

As for being 'the world's game', it's only so popular because it's so cheap to play.

I wonder if Reddit admins could make it so that the moderators can enforce it when submitting. Like a template of choices that the mods could use on the submission page - Original Content, Facebook, Meme, Other. Something to that effect, but customizable based on which subreddit it's in.

If you could eliminate one trend on Reddit, what would it be? by lolpancakeslolin AskReddit

[–]TheSnop 18 points19 points ago

Where do I start...

  • "How I feel when..." submissions. You're using an old picture or gif and trying to gain karma by attaching some stupid comment to it.
  • When anyone says something is ironic there are inevitably 3 people telling him it's not irony and then an argument about what irony means.
  • "Cake day" and cake day posts.
  • "Hey someone else from [insert city]" - There are a lot of people on this site, some people live in the same area.
  • Starting anything with "that moment when...".
  • Any submission that starts with "just". "Just me and this guy I met" when it's a picture of Bill Murray or something.
  • Anything on facebook. Two people who I don't know had witty replies to one another? That's not interesting to anyone but you, we don't know these people.
  • People that are proud to be grammar nazis. We get it, it's annoying when people say your instead of you're. Maybe they had a brain fart while typing really fast. Maybe English isn't their first language. Who cares, you're not changing anyone's life you're just trying to act superior. If they write "intensive purpose" I can understand letting them know that it's wrong, but fixing a common spelling or grammatical error just comes off as so douchy, and it's always so highly upvoted.
  • "Came across this..." - We know, you submitted it. It's the laziest of all titles, in my opinion, and does nothing to let me know whether or not I want to click.
  • Lynch mobs. Reddit is wrong ALL THE FUCKING TIME.
  • Talking about how drunk or high you are while posting. Such a badass. On that note, "you should post this in tress"....Get it, because they smoke weed and they would like this picture of food.
  • The amount of 'power users' and sock puppet accounts. Some of these people have 100,000 link karma but have never made a comment.
  • Any post about friend zones. You don't know their situation. Maybe they're actually just friends and happy that way. Maybe one of them is gay. Maybe one of them is married or already has another partner. Who cares, you don't have to constantly want to date every person of the opposite sex. And then in the next thread everyone is bitching about being forever alone. Maybe try being a friend sometime.
  • All novelty accounts that aren't helpful. We finally got through to WorstPossibleAnswer but it's time for all the other ones to follow suit. If your comment is only funny or relevant after reading your username you get a downvote for not adding to the discussion. You type in all caps? Fucking annoying. Bad math? How clever, you wasted everyone's time. Watercoulors, etch-a-sketch, mspaint....I'm apparently the only one that finds them annoying, start a blog.
  • The amount of fake shit that redditors gobble up without a second of skepticism.
  • People that compile long lists of shit that annoys them but then they still spend countless hours on the site.

Edit:
* Twilight and Bieber hate. You're making fun of children and things children like.

As far as I know, reddit recently implemented tags which would allow this to be possible already, it would just be up to the mods to make sure the posts were tagged accordingly. If facebook tags within /r/funny were tagged with 'facebook' I could filter out facebook posts while still staying subscribed to this subreddit.

Can you explain more your issue with ServiceMagic? I have used them a couple times and thought it was amazing. Maybe from the contractor's perspective it's a ripoff but I asked for a quote on drywall and within 5 minutes I had 5 people calling me competing for my business. I would have had no idea where to go for drywall work without the site.

Do you have a better site that I should use for things like that?

No my point was if they had the same specs and the prices were that different. With the same basic parts inside would you be willing to pay that much more for a dell over an HP? That's how the sunglasses are. They are a different shape, but most are the same quality material and glass and are actually built in the same factory by the same workers.

http://www.kpbs.org/news/2009/jun/22/why-do-we-pay-hundreds-shades-cost-3-make/

DR. OLSON: Well, the manufacturing, the facilities are pretty primitive. Students were quite amazed to see exactly what goes on there and in many cases the factory workers actually just live in this really sort of ramshackle factory. But you'll see several production lines and running down them are sunglasses that are going to end up at Target for $6.99 and sunglasses that are going to end up at Nordstrom or Saks that are designer sunglasses for $250.00. And they cost pretty much the same amount to make.

They are really, really inexpensive. Total markup, you know, on those versus the ones that are $3.00 being extrapolated to $150.00. Those have a higher margin but most of them are still really inexpensive.

So maybe I overshot, they're probably cheaper than $30. Unless they're actually made of titanium or turtleshell most of the name brand plastic ones are probably marked up hundreds of dollars.
