How can I pull off wearing ties? by an0nymouzin TwoXChromosomes

[–]SpikeTheBunny 16 points17 points ago

I'm a schoolteacher, and wear ties regularly. I LOVE them, and I guess it's almost a thing with me. The male teachers compliment every new one I wear, and the kids think really I'm cool... both pretty useful groups to have on your side in the school setting.

Anyway, I usually wear them with a skirt and button-down. Sometimes I wear them as a...um... "simi-scarf," and just get a coordinating one to kinda drape around my neck. I just got into ties with V-neck tee shirts and jeans. I have learned all kinds of different knots, and sometimes just keep looping it around itself 'til I like the look. I also use them for belts and headbands if the look calls for it. I probably am taking it a bit far, but ties are so cool!

My look is kinda eccentric, but the pic you posted looks like the usual way I wear them. I get most of them from Goodwill for about $1. The prints and cuts are usually pretty vintage-y and unique, so you don't look too manly. TJMaxx/Marshal's/Ross is usually where I get my fancier lookin ones for a good price. Also, shop against the seasons. For example, fall colors are really cheap right now and can usually be mixed with current colors.

Last thing, I girl up the rest of the look. I always wear big earrings and slightly more striking make-up on tie days. In the winter I do patterned tights or fishnets.

Hope this helps!

Google'd that for ya. Not bein a prick, there's just a lot of different methods.

I use the thumb thing. It works well for me, but everybody's different. I have really long fingers. I read somewhere...I don't know...prolly here...that it may have something to do with finger length.

I mean car travel. I keep tools in my trunk. Random nails and screws are in the kit, and I have no idea how I acquired most of them. This would blend right in.

Why is that answer wrong? Can you explain? You all seem to be explaining two different things.

Well, their business model is basically to prey on people with low/no credit and charge an absurd amount of interest. So, probably? Just make sure that you have a sure plan in place to pay it off. Pay more than the required payment every month in order to avoid interest and you should be fine.

I live in Acadia Parish. When I had very little credit and needed a newish car, I went to CitiFinancial (now One Main Financial). I got $3500 on a three year loan...at 30 freakin' percent interest!

Thing is, I paid extra and on time each month. I paid it off in a year and a half with no interest. Got my credit score up to the 700's. I know they don't have great reviews, and are pretty usurious, but if you do it the right way you may come out better in the end.
