Nikon cancels "Comfort Women" photo exhibit without explanation; Japan’s right wing has long been a vociferous denier of the forcible abduction of comfort women by tempurababyin worldpolitics

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comfort_women

The term "comfort women" was a euphemism used to describe women forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese military during World War II.

Estimates vary as to how many women were involved, with numbers ranging from as low as 20,000 from some Japanese scholars to as high as 410,000 from some Chinese scholars, but the exact numbers are still being researched and debated. A majority of the women were from Korea, China, Japan and the Philippines, although women from Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan, Indonesia and other Japanese-occupied territories were used for military "comfort stations". Stations were located in Japan, China, the Philippines, Indonesia, then Malaya, Thailand, then Burma, then New Guinea, Hong Kong, Macau, and what was then French Indochina.

Camera maker Nikon supports the photographic arts in ways including providing exhibition space for photographers through five Nikon Salons, in Tokyo’s Shinjuku and Ginza districts, Osaka and other places.

“Even if there was some kind of pressure, it makes me wonder if Nikon is capable of leading the world of photography if it disregards freedom of expression to such an absurd extent,” said Ahn.

Quit pretending to be oppressed, Ahn. They sponsored the event, they can pull their sponsorship for any reason or no reason at all. You are still free to exhibit your photographs elsewhere.

Charting Fun with Krugman - Robert P. Murphy by habaker91in Economics

[–]SmellsLikeUpfoo 2 points3 points ago

Well that certainly doesn't mean it's dwindling. There are state-level Republican parties with some very Austrian-friendly planks recently added to their platforms ("abolish the Fed", etc.), so I'd say the opposite is more likely true.

What makes you so sure that the number of Austrian economists/adherents is dwindling, and that the public is now more accepting of fiat currencies and central banking? Have there been actual surveys on this subject?

Well, hardly anybody did talk about those things before. Now slightly more than hardly anybody does.

Concerning © and ® (but not ), I recommend that everyone read Against Intellectual Monopoly. As you might expect from its title, you can download it as a free, but the book can also be purchased if you prefer a hard copy.

Is it ethical to look at products in brick-and-mortar stores and get recommendations and advice from the sales staff when you fully intend to buy online to get a better price? by SmellsLikeUpfooin AskReddit

Even if I've decided to not buy today, I can't predict that my visit won't influence me to buy in the future when I otherwise may not have done so.

Well it's obviously legal, but I'm not so sure it's unethical. In visiting the store, even if you don't buy anything on that trip, you are seeing what they are selling and you may come back again in a few weeks as a result, and spend your money then.

Where's Amerikuh? FAKE

Penn Jillette accuses Obama of class warfare for drug policy, states' rights: "You can get [medical marijuana] in California, and the feds are coming in to try to stop this. States' rights don't mean jack shit to the Obama administration on anything except gay marriage" by mepperin politics

[–]SmellsLikeUpfoo 2 points3 points ago

I think Jillette knows that states don't have rights. But if we're talking about the relationship between the states and the federal government, it's important to know which is allowed to do what according to the Constitution. The states have ceded a lot of power to the FedGov over the decades.
