Could they be 'decommissioned' lamp-posts? Perhaps with the heads removed for recycling purposes?

I'm from the UK.

A - Scone

B - We would probably call that, specifically, a cookie

C - Cracker

These are what we call biscuits. If they're big, round, chewy and have choc chips / raisins in them etc, we use the US term 'cookie'

I thought of Truman Show as well. Not sure if they were meant to be teenagers in that scene.

Could a single global currency work? by epic_comebacksin AskReddit

[–]SkipToTheEnd 0 points1 point ago

Have a look at the Euro right now. We've had it for over a decade, and, due to a few countries heavy depression, it looks pretty set to fail in the long run.

Short answer, no, unless you expect all countries'economies to be identical. One would assume the USA would set the precedent for this currency (a casual assumption), and the rest of us don't necessarily structure our economies in the same way, nor would many countries be happy having their fiscal policy being dictated by another.

Dog food. It's really unpleasant. Avoid, unless desperate.

Wow, thank you for informing me of this, well excited. Will be curious though, as Gaiman translates well to the screen, but Pratchett does not.

What I think of whenever I hear someone ask where do I get my morals? by DylansDadin atheism

[–]SkipToTheEnd 13 points14 points ago

The psychopath is, by nature, irrational. Thus he may act immorally.

Well, a shamefully over-simplified way of putting it is, to some extent, viewing an action's morality by judging "Is this how I would wish everyone to act in this situation?"

We can rationalise the outcome of all agents acting the same way to decide if we can deem something moral. The best example is promise-keeping. I have a choice to break a promise, would I wish all agents to break promises? ; the concept of promise would become valueless.

It does require a respect for the general concept of morality and the idea of an innate need to preserve it. This is equally explainable rationally, as a sort of utilitarian judgement that a moral society has greater happiness than an immoral one. I believe this to be self-evident.

Its sort of a variation of 'do unto others as you would have them do to you' (the bible, ironically, providing us with morality's alternate source).

Like I say, not meaning to dodge criticism, but this is all horribly nutshell-ed. Best read Kant, he's all, like, good at writing philosophy and shit, whereas I have probably failed my degree :)

I strongly disagree with this. Morality comes from universal, applicable reason. (This is the first time I feel my recently-completed dissertation has been relevant to anything)

Kant develops this argument further with his 'universal imperative'.

Stewart Lee. However I would have to transcribe his entire set, as nothing works on its own.
