How doable is introducing an American-styled/ Ron Paul brand of libertarianism to UK? by whygeorgiain unitedkingdom

[–]SirMuttley 4 points5 points ago

So rather than the state providing health care they should get their own medical insurance. Yeah I hear that's popular in the states.

I think if you explained to these people in the pub what they'd lose by paying less taxes they might change their opinion.

Rabies case confirmed in UK by Applemacbookproin unitedkingdom

I wish the papers would put out proper headlines.

If the title said "Man bitten 6000 miles from the UK gets rabies" I probably wouldn't have bothered clicking the link.

Good, they're fucking awful. They basically stole my domain and wouldn't give it back unless I coughed up 60 quid. I even had the support guy on the phone agreeing with me that what had happened was wrong, but he couldn't do anything because those higher up refused.

David Cameron cheering: a meme is born by croutonsoupin unitedkingdom

[–]SirMuttley 5 points6 points ago

Because they posted something funny...?

Err, no. I was referring to the level of the humour rather than the presence.

New Statesman used to be a place you could chuckle at thought provoking articles by Mark Thomas; now you can look at memes that they found on the internet. Most of their blogs section is utter shite and I think it really lowers the publication.

Yeah, maybe I should pick up a paper copy sometime and see how it is. I cancelled my subscription back in 2006 and haven't read a paper copy since.

I used to really enjoy it, but then it just became more and more negative to the point where it seemed like they would pick things to be negative about just for the sake of it. Went from quality left wing journalism to left wing bitching and moaning; I can get that on r/uk for free.

Inconsistent moderation with a pro-state/monarchy bias. by cumshawin unitedkingdom

I told you what an image macro is perceived to be. I didn't define it, other people did. If you choose to define it another way there is nothing I can do about it. At which point there is no point continuing.

[–]SirMuttley 2 points3 points ago

Wow, really? It was clearly a stalemate because the discussion was going no where for either of us. Perhaps you need to read up on chess.

This isn't really worth discussing any further

[–]SirMuttley 20 points21 points ago

Wow, New Statesman really?

I mean it's funny and all, but the sort of thing I'd expect to find on 4Chan or some other site of that kind. I have to say I don't regret cancelling my subscription.
