He "said" that he invested 30 million. In reality, he borrowed 4 million and was one of the first to get paid when RI loaned the company 75 million.

Mark Zuckerberg demonstrates how to be the worst dressed person on your own wedding. by DarthGoofyin malefashionadvice

[–]RSquared 11 points12 points ago

DM;OF.

But yeah, his is a face that should not be framed by a wide spread collar, especially one that appears to be two neck sizes too large (or unbuttoned at top, hard to tell). Wider lapels and skinny tie, egh. Tie is too skinny anyway, not nearly formal enough when your wife is wearing a traditional dress. Pants are riding really low or his tie is too high, or something about his midsection is weird (beer belly?). Pants look good, but loafers at your wedding? C'mon man, you're damn near made of money.

My Impressions from the Beta [Pretty Long Read!] by fylthin Torchlight2

[–]RSquared 4 points5 points ago

The Engineer was also surprisingly fun, his minions make health potions relatively obsolete, and he has some hard hitting skills. My main complaint is that his charge bar never seems to do anything, I know it effects his skills but it doesn't have a noticeable effect like the previous two classes mentioned.

Oh yes it does. Look for the skill that talks about making a shield with increasing effects with a higher charge bar (it may be a lv14 skill, which might be why you don't have it yet). Get one point in the armor shock skill. Get surrounded by mobs, armor shock and make a shield. Plow through enemies. The engineer is an amazing tank.

Need a good name for this guy. Human Monk, high magic campaign. by Shammyshanksin rpg

[–]RSquared 1 point2 points ago

Depending on how you want to play him, monk names tend towards Latin or Greek endings (a, um, us, eo) or Asian-sounding syllables (with liberal use of hypens and ae/ao/ou/uo combinations). Theo, Vindictum, Broctus, Micha or Xao Fe, Zin-Shehou, Fao Laun.

If you really want to have fun with him, perhaps he took a monastic name and therefore his chosen deity or ideal is related. Think Shepherd Book. This, of course, leaves open the delightful possibility that he had a completely different personality or philosophy during his backstory and the GM will no doubt enjoy exploiting that.

My girlfriend (a very casual gamer) wants to play an online RPG with me. What's a good free-to-play to test the waters with? by SMEGMA_VON_SEMENFARTin Games

[–]RSquared 0 points1 point ago

The limit is activity-based like a number of free-to-play (F2P) games. To play the game levels, you need energy (10 per level typically), and you have a regenerating batch of limited "mist" energy (100 per 22 hours, 100 max). There's also a "crystal" energy (CE) that is bought from OOO or traded for using in-game currency (crowns) and is entirely player-market (you can bid or post depending on which conversion you want to make). OOO does manipulate the market somewhat through energy "sales" where promotional costumes are given out for buying energy with cash, or a discount is offered for specific packages. A "pass" can be bought for six bucks that makes levels free for a month, which is a nice investment for starting off because you'll burn through your allotted mist pretty quick initially.

The game is a bit unique in MMOs for not having player levels, only equipment, and upgrading equipment takes energy. If you want to F2P completely, then using your mist (or bought energy) to run the levels and buy CE is entirely possible, but gets more difficult at the endgame (there are five tiers of gear, which require increasing amounts of energy to upgrade). Often, people get to the fourth tier F2P and then buy a bit of energy to push over the hump to the last one.

I do have to say that currently the crown-energy conversion rate is at a high point, and I expect a sale to happen soon to push it down (for reference, it tends to fluctuate between 6,000 and 7,000 crowns normally and is currently at 7,600). There hasn't been a sale in some time, either, so I'm guessing something will coincide with the Steam Summer Sale that usually occurs about this time of year.

So, on this very last Beta oppertunity I got to play Torchlight 2 and it is... by Velenorin Torchlight2

[–]RSquared 0 points1 point ago

I really hope there's more +piercing equipment in the full game. I really felt it when using the no-splash ranged weapons like the bow. OF COURSE my first unique was a bow, too.

I should've taken a screenshot, but the last unique I found was "Misery", a 250 DPS greathammer (or axe, I can't remember) that I couldn't use because it was level 27 or a Focus requirement I didn't have. I gave it away to a level 15 Engie on the off chance that he got his stats up by level 21 to use it. Still, "Trollcleaver", my 220 DPS greataxe, was delightful - the best part of this game is how satisfyingly things explode when you hit them.

Also, I found a unique shoulders with +34% magic find. That's like the half the total of my MF on my old Diablo 2 character back in the day. AND there's an enchanter who imbues things with "Luck". Yes, that's exactly what it sounds like.

Has a game ever made you go "Wow... I'm an idiot"? by cookupastormin Games

[–]RSquared 1 point2 points ago

You get a warning about five minutes in, and the "escalation" happens at ten IIRC. Also, the enemy guards are on "ELEVATED" rather than regular alert.

Depends on how much weight they have - a light enough fabric will have a similar (though much less pronounced) translucency to the shirt he's wearing. These look a little heavy (from the way they crease) so there may be a comfort factor to deal with on hot summer days, but I wouldn't bother to go with "no no, change into the uniform (NATO strap, boat shoes, cuffed pants)". Personally, I think showing ankles is a stupid look, but it's "in" right now so who am I to argue.

Boat Shoe-down: Sperry vs. Sebago. Verdict: Eh. by jdbeein malefashionadvice

[–]RSquared 8 points9 points ago

Eh is right. They're boat shoes, which are one of the most consistent styles on the market (two eyelet moc toe with reinforced heel). The only difference comes in sole and quality of materials, and that's probably a wash between those two brands. And is it me, or are most of the collaboration pieces hideous? I mean, orange and blue and white? Maybe if I went to UVA.

Definitely pre-Punch reroll. I can only hope that it was raised to Iceburst and got the triple UV there. Otherwise, it's a cautionary tale about UV'ing specific brandishes rather than generic ones.

Preston is huge on his face - I've always heard that the lens on prescription glasses should be approximately centered on the pupil looking forward. By that standard, the Preston and Thomson are far too large, but the Sibley looks good. I'd also consider the Langston but don't like the oval shape with the high temples - the Sibley's more rectangular frame looks better there.

The Redskins/Cowboys Cap Penalty Appeal was NOT DENIED. It was deemed an issue not fit for Arbitration because it is an issue between 2 owners. Better article here. by shackilj2in nfl

[–]RSquared 2 points3 points ago

Bah, their own damn fault. The NFL owners were largely at fault for the new CBA not being put in place in time, and the previous contract had a poison pill for exactly that purpose (to convince the owners and PA to negotiate). They failed, poison pill activates, owners (except Jerry and Snyder) collude to avoid it.

It's the same problem as Congress has over the debt limit. There was a poison pill in that agreement about making X amount of cuts in the budget, or else military and social spending each take X/2 in cuts. Now the House GOP is trying to ram through a law cutting social spending by X because they don't want to deal with the poison pill.
