Twenty-two movie characters casually dismissed in sequels by Shadow_Jackin movies

[–]REdd06 1 point2 points ago

Ah, but you forgot about Austin's clone from 1969! Remember he was already in bed with Shagwell at the end of the movie when the original Austin came home?

I imagine the clone and Shagwell went off and lived happily ever after (like Austin wanted to do with Vanessa in the first movie). The original Austin stayed a secret agent and went on to deal with Goldmember.

There's a easy sequel in that if Mike Meyers wants to cash in. The clone and Shagwell are killed off by the mysterious new Emeritus Evil (Scott Powers all grown up). It's up to the original Austin Powers to avenge his clone's death... yadda yadda yadda.

Quoting Saint Quint from the book of "Jaws"...

"...he's got lifeless eyes. Black eyes. Like a doll's eyes. When he comes at ya, doesn't seem to be living... until he bites ya, and those black eyes roll over white and then... ah then you hear that terrible high-pitched screamin'. The ocean turns red, and despite all the poundin' and the hollerin', they all come in and they... rip you to pieces. "

U.S. Department of Labor orders reporters to only use government provided equipment & internet connections to report on the US jobs market, unemployment rate and consumer prices. by REdd06in news

[–]REdd06[S] 0 points1 point ago

My favorite parts...

  • "The agency ordered media organizations to remove computer software, hardware and communications lines they have installed at the department to transmit news on data such as the unemployment rate and consumer prices."
  • "Journalists in the lockup will have to rely on government-provided Internet access to send their stories, with no guarantee they can connect to the Internet at the same time."
  • The U.S. Department of Labor said it isn't required to let journalists see market-sensitive economic releases in advance of their release to the public, but is "...a courtesy we provide... but it and participation by news organizations in it, is not a right.”
  • Journalists have been told to reapply for lockup credentials and that space may be limited.
  • "Because every news organization will have the same government-provided equipment, “we are totally leveling the playing field.” Reporters will also be provided with pens and paper."

Obama Attorney General: US can legally kill Americans in terror groups by galt1776in politics

[–]REdd06 3 points4 points ago

From the article... "The Fifth Amendment provides that no one can be "deprived of life" without due process of law. But that due process, Holder said, doesn't necessarily come from a court. "Due process and judicial process are not one and the same, particularly when it comes to national security. The Constitution guarantees due process, not judicial process," the attorney general said."

Sooooo if the government says they did all of the due process on their own, why bother with a court, right?

Terrifying.

Get a large Brita water filter pitcher, too. You can re-filter the water from the tub afterwards.

I spent a year of my life (and every last penny) working on this, reddit, please help our trailer go viral! by bagtaggarin videos

[–]REdd06 0 points1 point ago*

I didn't get much from the trailer. The computer/AI voice was a little hard for me to understand, too.

It LOOKS like a great premise from the YouTube summary, but I would re-cut the preview to really get the viewers' curiosity up.

Four parts...

Part one: The actors are preparing for their initial jump and we get a brief headshot of each of the major characters. Saying their goodbyes to people on Earth, maybe a TV on in the background with a reporter explaining this "historic" initial jump and the reasons for it. End with the ship's takeoff.

BLACK

Part two: the ship arrives at destination. Enters orbit. All SFX. No voices.

BLACK

Part three: the actors on the ship are talking to each other. General chatter and joyous their mission is over, drinking/toasting their success, and make it obvious to the viewer the mission went well.

BLACK

Part four: SFX shot- the ship is coming back. Cut to closeup of communication officer hailing Earth all goofy-goober happy. "Earth, this is Jupiter 5, come in!!" No response. Static. Comm officer smile fades a bit. Presses some buttons on console. "Earth, this is Jupiter 5, come in please." Static. Painfully long pause. Smile disappears from comm officer. Cut to exterior shot. SFX pan back to wide shot of darkness all around spaceship. Earth in distant background. "Earth, this is the Jupiter 5 on trajectory zero-one-niner, please respond." Static.

Bring up movie logo.

Voiceover: "Dear God. Where is everyone?"

End preview

Something like that, Make that feeling of dread just smack the viewer in the face. Make the viewer go "WTF happened"! Don't mention the base at all. Don't mention 200 years have passed.

It really is an awesome premise, and I'll definitely see it when it comes out.

Best of luck!!

EDIT: Spacing, grammar, and changes to add "Jupiter 5". I didn't catch the ship's name, so I threw that in there.

Your first summary is almost identical to the ending of the 1998 movie LAST NIGHT.

Wikipedia : In the climax of the film, Patrick and Sandra decide to fulfill the suicide pact that her husband was unable to complete. As midnight approaches, they both sit on the roof facing each other, listening to the song "Guantanamera", each holding a loaded pistol to the other's temple. As the final minutes approach, Sandra implores Patrick to resolutely carry out the pact. But as the final seconds approach, both characters are overcome with emotion and simultaneously let their pistols slip away as they slowly embrace in a kiss and the last moments of all the major characters are seen. It is at this moment that the world, and all its variegated characters, is terminated.

Last Night won a few awards, and I remember it being a pretty serious movie. I hope I don't see too many parallels with Carrel's new movie and that one.

UPDATE: YouTube clip of the finale. : Brief nudity
