Are We in a HAARP "Earthquake War"?

PracticalPanda 2 points3 points 6 months ago[-]

Again, I wonder why the only comments in a /r/conspiracy post are doing nothing but mocking the linked article in every way possible instead of discussing the actual facts and possibilities themselves.

I admit the website looks about as disreputable as you can get, and some of the things the author says are downright loony, but the question of whether or not HAARP can and has been used as an earthquake weapon is up for legitimate debate. Can we get any kind of a discussion on that, please?

Fine. Here. Saydrah AMA. It couldn't get much worse, so whatever.

Holy Jesus I've been a redditor for years and kinda sorta never realized it was there. Thanks, Mythrilfan.

The recent controversy surrounding one of Reddit's moderators highlights many of the same problems we Americans face with our government (by p0ss).

PracticalPanda [S] 0 points1 point 6 months ago[-]

On the optimistic side (very rare for me), at least you know that once a community with a good group of moderators comes along, that it will be here to stay.

I hope.

By request, IAMA husband and father of a 15mo boy and another child on the way. I found out a month ago that my wife has been having an affair for over a year, and I plan to tell her I know tomorrow night. AMA.

PracticalPanda 66 points67 points 6 months ago[-]

I am approaching this with sense of selflessness. I am going to try to show her compassion. She is hurting and needs help. As her husband, I need to give her one chance to come back. It's up to her if she wants to return or continue to be lost. She will always been the mother of my child(ren) and no matter what, we have to be good co-parents. That has to be.

I call bullshit, and there's a good chance she will too. Human beings are excellent bullshit detectors. It's easy to be selfless when it benefits you too. Tough love is much harder to do since it hurts her and deprives you, but I'm telling you it needs to be done... or you need to make that impression at least. Human psychology is a bitch. She will not value you if you do not value yourself. Don't "take her back" too easily. In fact, let her go. If she cares enough she will ask to stay, and you can work it out then. If not, then at least you know.

Ask yourself: what woman wants to be with a man who thinks that she is so great that he'll stick by her even if she betrays him? You are the prize; not her. Once upon a time, you were the hot shit and she wanted to be with you, not vice-versa. You owe it to yourself to man up and go off on her a little about how disgusted it makes you feel, how deeply and utterly disappointed you are, and how you can't believe she was selfish enough to allow you to go on for all these years watching the relationship deteriorate thinking that it was somehow your fault, and trying futilely to save it while she was actively throwing it away. Ask her to give you back all those years of your life, your love, and your dedication you wasted on a woman who didn't want it anyway. And seriously, think about it yourself, because from an outside perspective cheating is always fucked up, but from an inside perspective I'm sure the only thing you want right now is for her to be sorry and to want you back.

Anyway, I digress. By now after that little tirade she should be feeling a massive guilt trip, or else she isn't human. At this point you can do what you want... I'm no expert in these matters. All I have is a little insight into human nature, perhaps from having gone through similar experiences before. I hope you seriously consider my advice. Also, if you PM me your e-mail I'll send you a short document to read that hopefully will open your eyes to a different perspective. Regards.

You guys have WiMAX? Do you realize that WiMAX is mystical new futuristic technology that has been promised to us here in the U.S. for some time but has yet to be delivered? It is supposed to roll out with the next iteration (4G) of networks.

That said, how is your WiMAX?

On a serious but unrelated note, I didn't just downvote you. Someone else did (I upvoted you back), and I noticed within the last 10 minutes someone also downvoted a completely innocuous reply to another one of my comments (by krispykrackers). I think I have an enemigo.

I was thinking that in the "new and upcoming links" section (the post right above #1 on the front page) reddit could also feature popular posts from non-subscribed subreddits. That way, as a subreddit becomes more popular and its submissions get more and better feedback, the subreddit will naturally get featured to new users by showcasing some of its best stories on the front page.

My friend and I met an awesome guy on Chatroulette and we want to find him! Help?

No, this guy is 19. I want our person to be in his twenties, since he has a job and a business card and everything.

FTFY.

Crosspost: Ron Paul Was Right: Saddam Hussein and the Federal Reserve - NYT Article from 2004 asking where Hussein got $750K in crisp US dollars.

PracticalPanda 5 points6 points 6 months ago[-]

Your entire comment is devoid of reason. Let me tell you why.

the article never says that Hussein directly bought the notes

First of all, why would he "buy" notes? He either sold a lot of stuff on eBay, or someone gave him that pallet of cash. If the notes are sequentially numbered, it would greatly rule out the former explanation, as the article said.

There were possibly many intermediaries involved in the transaction.

I'm glad you read part of the article at least, which stated the same thing. This doesn't relieve the Fed of culpability, but rather could implicate it. What's your point?

The idea that the Federal Reserve is somehow in any way intentionally involved in dealing with Hussein is an assumption.

Well, actually it's the hypothesis. Again, pointless comment.

On the whole, your words read like a Federal Reserve apologist, although I have no idea why you would want to defend it.

House Ethics Panel Finds Democratic Congressman Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) Knowingly Accepted Caribbean Trips In Violation of House Rules Forbidding Hidden Financing By Corporations

PracticalPanda -1 points0 points 6 months ago[-]

The thing is, congressmen do this sort of stuff all the time. Not to sound jaded but this is hardly news anymore. What's more interesting to me is why it is being brought up now. I have a theory that usually most political "indiscretions" are not kept very well secret, and that the revelation of damning indiscretions are usually a result of a desire by powerful people to "politically assassinate" a person, so to speak.

For example, I believe this happened to Eliot Spitzer. All of America knows his name because of what happened with the call girl, but not very many people know what he was investigating as part of his duties as Governor of New York.

So with Charles Rangel, I'm not sure exactly what he was up to to deserve this political assassination, but I would bet that he was up to no good in some way that didn't sit well with the "real higher-ups". He's been a congressman for 34 years. Did it really take that long for some people to figure out that he cheated on his taxes a bit? And are they really that shocked and outraged about it? Listening to the fake outrage coming out of fellow congressmen makes me sick to my stomach. Each and every one of them is guilty of similar misconduct. I'm not saying Charles Rangel isn't guilty. I'm saying there's something else at play here, because Charles Rangel isn't unique. By all rights, if he goes, they all should go (and good riddance).

This man has spent 8 years in prison because nobody bought his ridiculous story about his toyota accelerating out of control and killing 3 people.

How is this the top comment, yet this post is #1 on reddit right now? It needs to get buried.

My computer gets progressively louder (like a jet engine) as I use CPU intensive programs. Is that my processor fan? Should I get a new one?

PracticalPanda 1 point2 points 6 months ago[-]

To answer your question directly: You don't need to get a new fan. Your current one is not broken.

Your computer gets louder as you use CPU intensive programs because one or more of the fans in your system is temperature-regulated, meaning the motherboard can vary the speed of the fan based on need. Therefore, the fans getting louder is just a natural byproduct of having to disperse more heat coming from your CPU (or it could be your GPU or motherboard fan); in other words, there is nothing wrong with the fan.

Whether or not you should buy a new one should be dependent on how well you can tolerate the noise of your current one. It's not malfunctioning. (Blowing canned air through the vents could clear it out and make it quieter though, as others have mentioned)

Joseph Andrew Stack Had 9/11, NSA, and Homeland Security Related Defense Contractor Clients

PracticalPanda 2 points3 points 6 months ago[-]

Agreed. Assuming most of the conspiracies are real, there must be boatloads of people out there who know something but are unwilling to come forward. Also factor in that all communications are monitored. I could imagine a scenario where he sat on some crucial information for a long time, and when he finally started to make plans to act on it, they caught him and stopped him before he could follow through.

That's a pretty forced explanation. It seems pretty blatantly plagiarized to me. He may not have directly traced over it, but many of those panels are direct copies; nevermind the neck muscles and ear detail (seriously??).
