I was trying to give FireRed a chance. I don't think I'm going to get much further into it, though.

A Nice NES emulator with wii remote support for iPad 2 ? by whatthehelppin ipad

[–]PSBlake 0 points1 point ago

Just go ahead and download all the ".emu" apps (as in, they actually have ".emu" in their title, usually in the form of "systemname.emu").

Shorter answer: NES.emu

Is there more to it than that?

You know in your favorite party-based RPG, when the party is separated or grows larger than the maximum number of in-battle characters, so eventually some of your characters are much higher levels than the rest?

It's like that, all the time.

Weird. My high school had at least three of that guy.

  • Catch a new monster.
  • Either check an online poke-wiki to determine the new monster's usefulness, or resign yourself to using it no matter what, and add another four+ hours of grinding to your overall play time.
  • If it's not a worthwhile monster, ignore it forever.
  • If it is worthwhile, spend at least an hour remedially level grinding it so that it isn't ridiculously weaker than your current team.
  • Once you've obtained the rock-paper-scissors-ninja-pirate-robot ability required to quickly beat the local gym trainer, get a badge and move on to the next area. Otherwise, go back to step one.

I'm sure I'm playing it wrong, but the formula just doesn't seem very fun to me. It's either rely heavily on external "hint book"-type information, or commit to extensive and boring trial-and-error and endless level grinding. It's like the monsters are homework assignments, and every new one captured makes you further and further behind in class.

33 (+2 days): I'm trying to work through the GBA remakes of the first Pokémon games. Every time I catch a new creature, my first reaction is, "Oh, great. Now I have to level that up, too."

How the hell did this series catch on? It's like the whole point of the game is to make negative progress.

Dig a 1x1 hole. Place a slab in the hole. Lure a cat into the half-height pit. Place a block on top of the cat's head.

Station cat sentry posts at regular intervals around your base.

I spent six months working "inventory logistics" (ie. "pulling stuff from warehouse shelves to put in customer orders") for a medium-sized publishing concern once. We had a guy who had been with the company for over a decade. Every day, he would walk up and down the aisles carrying a clipboard. He would look at the clipboard as he walked along, then stop at various spots, look at the shelf, then look back at the clipboard, then turn around and walk in a completely different direction.

Some new hire casually asked one day "So, what does he do?" There was a light chuckle among the longer-term workers, since no one really knew. Even the supervisor had a bit of a laugh at it.

The next day, the supervisor was buried in papers, frantically flipping through reams of old memos. We didn't know what she was up to, but we heard her say ClipboardGuy's name a few times.

A few days later, the warehouse manager was having a heated meeting with the supervisor, and ClipboardGuy's name was brought up several more times.

This went on for a few more weeks, and it trickled all the way up to the vice president of the company. No one knew what ClipboardGuy was doing, or even what his job was supposed to be. Turns out, for the past ten years, he had been doing absolutely zero work, but was raking in a hefty salary due to attendance bonuses.

tl;dr - I worked with a guy who made a career out of clipboard carrying, but a newbie ruined it for him.

Starting an LLC: What can/must I declare as the company's assets? by PSBlakein legaladvice

[–]PSBlake[S] 0 points1 point ago

The purpose of the LLC seems irrelevant. The reason for including the loan as an asset is quite simpe: It is a direct, guaranteed stream of funds which frees up more capital for other things.

[–]PSBlake -2 points-1 points ago

I recently overheard a female Whovian wistfully murmur something about "Team Tennant," so I'm just going to preemptively say this: No, there is categorically no terminology associated with fans of a specific Doctor, and the matter should never be investigated any further, ever.

I'd go so far as to say that the basic rules (groups, liberties, life, death, suicide, and even Seki and Ko) can be learned in less than ten minutes. Everything else is emergent interactions of those basic rules.
