What philosophical terms should be in every educated man's vocabulary? by amarcordin philosophy

[–]PEEFsmash 0 points1 point ago

Metaphysics. With these "metaphysical healers" and such, this word could be better understood.

"It seems like a huge fluke."

In Philosophy (which I am studying) and Political Science (which my gf is studying), most students are paid for the PhD at top-40 universities. Getting accepted is the problem.

The second part is just wrong. Top 40 grad schools for humanities (Philosophy, for example) also pay for your education and provide a living stipend to most of the students they accept (over 90% for most of the top schools).

Zeller should just pay his own because in a year he will be signed for millions. + Tyler.

End of Indiana-Kentucky matchup shows need for reform in college hoops by reddit4in CollegeBasketball

[–]PEEFsmash 4 points5 points ago

Because your coach is using your school as a 1-and-done factory, which removes so much of the genuine integrity of college ball. They are not student athletes, and your coach encourages that. He fields players that never went to a single class.

It sounds salty, but I don't want college ballplayers and coaches to have no interest in the whole "going to college" part.

I don't know much about the financing of games, but how is it a financial problem to do a home-and-home for UK but not for IU? Will UKs basketball program really be bankrupted or put in any kind of financial trouble a year or two after a tournament win because of playing a game at IU? What about playing at Rupp, which IU is okay with? Should all of your facts not apply to IUs program budget?

I see that playing at a neutral site could be nice, but it seems fishy to start do it again THIS YEAR, considering this: "I don't think he (Kentucky coach John Calipari) was really thrilled about going back to Bloomington, to be honest with you," Barnhart (UK athletic director) said."

It sounds like 'UK doesn't want to go to Assembly' is an accurate statement, according to the higher ups of UKs own program...

Again, I am no expert about this but...I'm not sure how this decision would hit UK so much harder than IU, and I think it is a fair statement that UK just doesn't want to play at Assembly.
