They are good if they are funny, relevant or insightful. This one however is very unimaginative and boring.

Move your moggy with webuyanycat.com by tdobsonin unitedkingdom

[–]Owa1n 0 points1 point ago

In certain regions of the UK 'moggy' means a lot of things:

The term "moggy" a popular colloquial term for a cat in many parts of the country, means a mouse or insect in many parts of Lancashire, notably in the regions surrounding Wigan and Ormskirk. If older dialect speaking residents of these areas are asked what a 'moggy' is, they will say 'owt smo' an' wick ', i.e. anything small and quick. In the same districts, cheese is often referred to as 'moggy meyght' i.e. 'moggy meat', or in other words, food for mice. Many etymological authorities believe that cats were originally referred to as 'moggy catchers' and the term was abbreviated over time.

I've always wanted a friend to write to. I'd most definately be up for snail mail. If anyone in the UK is keen, or if overseas people don't mind posting to the UK.

It is an interesting conclusion but it would appear that the scientific literature behind this argument would not be on your side;

Exposure to a high concentration of testosterone during a critical phase of development would lead to a male-typical orientation (attraction to women), whereas a lower embryonic exposure to steroids would lead to a female-typical orientation (attraction to men)'.

nature.com

"In animals, behavior tends to be controlled more or less by known biological variables, including hormones. There is ample evidence from hundreds of studies that hormones, either prenatally, perinatally, or in adulthood, can influence the sexual behavior of mammals... "

Can hormones affect sexual orientation?

This was only a brief scan of the literature available out there but it would be interesting if you could find some research to counter this.

Thanks for replying by the way.

Who's your favorite author? by EMSfan9in GaybroReads

[–]Owa1n 0 points1 point ago

I'm torn between various authors, but then it depends on what kind of genre and what mood I'm in; for non-fiction I would say Sagan or Dawkins-purely for the easy way in which they explain facts and for thier witty sarcasm. For fiction it would be Terry Pratchett or Douglas Adams for the way they half-serious-half-joking present the facts of life. My favourite Sci-fi author is a guy called Dan Abnett purely for his awesome action sequences.

On the very day I die, The very last of my desires, Is that you take my broken body, And commit it to the fire,

And then when the fire is finished, Scrape the ash into a tin, Take them down to London's drinking reservoirs, And throw them in,

And then specks infinitesimal of my mortal remains, Will slide down 7 million throats and into 7 million veins, And I will creep through their capillaries into the marrow of their bones, And they will wake to bright new mornings and then wordlessly they'll know...

So these 7 million innocents, They will have me in their blood, And when they die they'll burn their bodies, Or be buried in the mud, And I will spread through streams and rivers like a virus through a host, From the hamlets to the cities from the rivers to the coast, And from there into the channel across the great Atlantic Ocean, And ever onwards to the new world, Through the waters gentle motions, Until parts of me are part of every land mass every sea, In the rain, up on your corps and in the very air you breath,

I'm not convinced of the existence of these things that don't exist, Yeah by Jewish boys with big ideas and scratches on their wrist, By a loving or a vengeful God, Or one who condescends, Who'll wash his hands down in the mire among the misery of men, Or by ever turning circles hanging timeless in the sky, Like a dream catcher distracting from the fact you're gonna die,

But I place one foot before the other, Confident because, I know that everything we are right now is everything that was, That Watt Tyler, Woody, Guthrie, Dostoevsky and Davy Jones, Are all dissolved into the ether and have crept into my bones, And all the cells in all the lines upon the backs of both my hands, Were once carved into the details of two feet upon the sand.

Frank Turner-One Foot Before the Other.

Apologies for pasting almost a whole song (minus choruses), but those verses are pure epic poetry.
