This may be the beginning of the end of the world...but I'm still impressed. by reemnessin gadgets

Until then, I consider it an impressive hobby and a nice proof of concept.

You've just described the precursor to almost every great discovery of the last 200 years...

So much this! People miss out on how awesome microwaves are because they are too stupid or lazy to actually learn how to use them. I can't stand when people cook everything at 100% power.

People miss out on how great microwaves actually are because they never use most of the features. Also not everything should be cooked at 100% power, it has levels for a reason.

My car buying experience. by laplandsixin Frugal

It really all depends on the circumstances. Financing can be helpful for a lot of people. Face it most people can't walk out and plunk down 10+k on a car in cash, and even if they could you don't want to completely drain your savings if that's all you have just to buy a car.

Not a bad way to go at all for sure. It depends on the factory, factory certified isn't that great from what I've heard from some of the people I know. I would suggest if possible finding a mechanic you trust to look over the used car you plan to purchase yourself. This is really the only way to get a fair opinion of the condition the car is in, assuming you don't know much about cars yourself.

Those are stupid rules, where did you come up with them? They don't even make sense.

I would say better rules would be.

  • Never lease a car

  • Never buy a new car

Bullshit, they all use the same basic crap. If not the public they should at least have to tell the EPA whats in it.

Why won't they tell us what's in the fracking material then? Just put it out there, the only reason to hide it is because they are afraid of what telling the truth would mean.

I high doubt their salt and pepper taste much different than anyone else, same goes for garlic powder. Maybe the more exotic spices but not that stuff.

MS can't force people to upgrade, try getting corporate IT shops to upgrade, it's impossible. I'm still fighting with client's IT shops to get them to move to IE8, they won't do it. I blame IT people more than I blame MS, they are the ones in my experience who've always drug their feet on updates.

"How U.S. Lost Out on iPhone Work": Apple’s shift of its manufacturing work overseas poses questions about what corporate America owes Americans. by secaa23in economy

In particular, companies say they need engineers with more than high school, but not necessarily a bachelor’s degree.

This is why I don't understand the bad rap trade schools in the US get. There are so many jobs out there that do not need College degrees but require some advanced training, but I know very few people seeking them out. I spoke with an HVAC engineer just a few months ago who said they constantly have trouble finding anyone to fill their openings when they come up.

Even in my area in PA the natural gas boom is creating tons of good jobs for skilled labor, but you have to be willing to work in order to get them.

Yeah why is this written like it's a good thing? We should be condemning Apple and other companies for conduct like this. Instead we are all up in arms about boycotting movie studios...last time I checked not many studios use what basically amounts to slave labor to produce their products. I think there's a lot of misplaced rage here.
