I'm Korean and I totally wondered about that when I was a kid.

Music Hall of Williamsburg age question by IanD9in Brooklyn

[–]Not_Ayn_Rand 0 points1 point ago

The last 18+ show I went to, I only had a college ID with no birth date and was able to get in (I'm 19). But it might be because they assumed I'm over 18 if I go to college.

What were you doing in high school before you got accepted? by iaba111in nyu

[–]Not_Ayn_Rand 0 points1 point ago

Seriously, don't worry about this if you're shooting for NYU. Worry about it if you're shooting for Harvard. Just do your thing and make your schedule as demanding as possible. I had almost nothing other than good academic record going on for me and I got into Stern (supposedly the hardest NYU division to get in).

How is compsci taught at NYU? by Greeceshallriseagainin nyu

Did you take it this past semester? I was in that class. I feel like the class is easy enough that you can get away with very little studying anyway.

The comments are really stupid. Not surprising considering they're all preteen girls.

You should take Marateck's Python class! He's awesome.

Anyone know of a place to see some examples of the passion for Starcraft in Korea? I'm in Seoul for the next few days (near COEX). by directrix688in korea

[–]Not_Ayn_Rand 0 points1 point ago

You'll not see any examples unless you speak Korean or go to an Internet cafe (PC방). I swear nobody actually plays Starcraft anymore, they just watch the matches. And right now Diablo 3 is the shit so I'm not sure so many people will be into Starcraft.

The Korean Monarchy by HRHPrincein korea

It's a particular family of Lee/Yi (the Jeonju Lee family) that's related to the monarchy. I'm related too, but there are millions of people in that family.

So many people are related to the monarchy there's basically no significance.

Question regarding Exploration floors by hjkim1304in nyu

[–]Not_Ayn_Rand 2 points3 points ago

You don't have to go to any events really. That's what I did... Some people on my explorations floor didn't even request it.

Information on Rubin Hall post-renovation? by -iNfluencein nyu

Well I don't know if it's just my stomach but I actually like Rubin food (vegetarians hate it). And what room quality? I'm paying $6800 a year for this location and view. My roommates also debunked the bed, but there are some rooms where that's not possible.

If you stayed in Korea would you speak to your children in Korean? by Loveinkoreain korea

[–]Not_Ayn_Rand 2 points3 points ago

I'm the opposite, I'm Korean and in school in America. If I ever settle here, I'll probably only talk to my kids in Korean. I've found that it's quite useful to be familiar with two different grammatical structures (Korean & English). Reading in Korean is also a pretty different experience from reading in English.

Is there a "too short" in Korea? by aeyoeniein korea

[–]Not_Ayn_Rand 2 points3 points ago

If you're worried about girls, Korean girls care A LOT about height. 5'3" is about the average for girls, so you might not have so much luck in that department.

Yes! Hamburgers! Americans don't believe me when I tell them hamburgers are the first thing everyone thinks of when they think about America.

Rubin is really really great if you get one of the rooms with awesome view over 5th Avenue. My picture is crappy, but this out of your room for a year is hard to beat.
