So this is how I find out there are indeed rednecks in Michigan. by Singspikein Michigan

As someone who grew up in Shiawassee County, I can PROMISE you lawn mower racing is only the tip of the "rednecks in Michigan" iceburg.

Sandmann's closed down! by Cerridwennin grandrapids

[–]Nickface 1 point2 points ago

Man. In the year that I lived in GR, my house wasn't too far from there. I always wanted to visit, but never really had the chance. I had vowed to stop by there whenever I made it back to the west side of the state, and now that chance is gone. :(

Been playing around with a couple brewery names/logos and made some simple labels by CinnamonRollsin Homebrewing

Simple, but effective. I like it!

Bottled a week ago, and the beer is flat... I guess I need more time? by Nickfacein Homebrewing

Wow. That's a great video. I'm definitely going to give it a couple more weeks at least after watching that. Thanks sharing it.

I'm definitely glad I'm asked. I've been going on the idea that it only took a week. Thanks for the link.

I have no qualms with waiting... maybe checking back every week or so to see how it's moving along.

I'll definitely give them longer. I didn't realize that the "wait a week and it's ready" was not normal. I'll be sure to give it a LOT longer in the future.

Planted the hops a few weeks ago this is my first child to show up. by nonameuserin Homebrewing

Nice. Here's a picture of my Brewer's Gold sticking out of the ground. I'm in Metro Detroit and planted the rhizome in early April.

I'm piggybacking here so I don't flood the main page with "Here are my hops!" pictures.

Can anyone help me find a wedding officiant for my wedding on Sept. 1st? by astinus12in AnnArbor

[–]Nickface 1 point2 points ago

I've done the same thing.

It seems shady as hell, but I've checked in with three separate county clerks where I performed weddings and it's 100% legit.

Friend of mine got this from one of her customers tonight...ouch. by tapdathoein pics

Yes, but the tax wouldn't be as high as 25%. In my state, it's 6% and I think the highest rate among all the states is just over 7%. So if it qualifies for sales tax (and some objects don't get taxed) the price of the $1 item ends up being $1.06

Reddit, what's your drink? by ADocksideBarin AskReddit

[–]Nickface 0 points1 point ago

If Tequila is not your thing, a "Comrade Collins" is just using Vodka instead. That's also pretty good! Almost any liquor will work.. like brandy.. whiskey.. etc.

It's a Chocolate-milk type beverage.

José Collins. Take the recipe for a Tom Collins (which is also pretty good), but substitute the gin with tequila.

I'm a fan of Star of India in Ferndale. It's on 9 mile, just West of Woodward.

Secular Wedding Officiant by cb8in Michigan

[–]Nickface 0 points1 point ago

It's easy to register as an officiant if you know someone who could do the talking and all of that.

All they need to do is go to here and fill out the form. I did it for a friend's wedding and kept asking myself "That's all there is to it?" But amazingly enough it's legal. You might want to talk to the Clerk's office of the county you are registering in before hand, just to be safe. But I've officiated weddings in Oakland and Genesee Counties with no problem.

which one are you? by feedyourhead77in Michigan

[–]Nickface 0 points1 point ago

When I lived on the West side of the state, I told people "You know how we have Coney Island restaurants on almost every corner? Over here it's like that, but with Churches."

Very true! That's why I chose it as an example.
