I know of the newspaper, although I didn't know they have an online presence. I read the printed edition to pass the time on the train sometimes (it's handed out for free on weekdays).

Uncultivable lands were seldom the property of the villages below (remember that they had to pay taxes for them). They were state-owned lands, where "state" stood for the Crusaders, the Ottomans, the British Crown, the Jordanian Occupation, and finally Israel since 1967. More info here.

You could say that, in principle, you think that Palestinians should have a state of their own, and that some of the public lands in the West Bank should revert to the ownership of this new Palestine. But it hasn't happened yet.

During the period of AC 1 Israel was a battleground between the Crusaders and the Mamelukes. The place was formally called "The Holy Land" or "The Kingdom of Jerusalem". The Palestinians would only come to the region around the late 19th century, when the Ottoman Empire started developing the region.
