An Australian, an American and a New Zealander are enjoying some beer in Saudi Arabia.. (X-Post from /r/jokes) by Maddness53in newzealand

[–]MiserableOldBastard 19 points20 points ago

Here you are then:

A tourist from the US was driving around NZ. He was a bit tired and thought he needed somewhere to stay the night before getting to Queenstown. Then out of the darkness ran a bull, he couldn't avoid it, drove into it and killed it. He was still able to drive the car, so feeling guilty he drove to the farm house. He knocked on the door, The farmer answered the door. The American said 'Im very sorry but I've killed your bull and would like to replace it.' The farmer said 'No dramas mate, go around the back you'll find all the cows in the shed, go for your life'

The Discogs forums would be more use than posting here.

Louis "All White New Zealanders dislike the Maoris" Crimp cancelled his subscription to the Southland Times over a crossword answer being in Maori by JephSin newzealand

[–]MiserableOldBastard 0 points1 point ago

New Zealand noveau (maybe English parents) and as such he has not grown up with an informed view of NZ history

Hmmm. This is the complete opposite of what Maori with whom I have discussed such things with tell me.

I have been told that from their perspective it is the 5th (or so) generation "white New Zealanders" that they have the most difficulty with.

I've heard many tales about the land-owning descendents of those early settlers baiting Maori with "Hey, we got all your land" type comments.

In contrast those more recently arrived come from a multi-cultural Britain that has, in general, tended to make them better aware and somewhat more receptive of other cultures. And they don't own all the land which Maori feel aggrieved to have lost.

New Zealand reporting in.

We admit to starting all this wimmin-voting stuff.

There's no need to invade us USA, your government is already 3/4 of the way up our arse anyway.

Phil's a Greek not a Brit.

On a side note I notice the Greek people are always asking for their marbles back but they never ask us to return Philip.

I'd look elsewhere.

My exact thoughts.

The UK has agreed a £50m trade deal to sell British pork to China, the world's biggest market for pig meat by God_Wills_Itin unitedkingdom

[–]MiserableOldBastard 2 points3 points ago

Animals raised for meat in New Zealand are raised outdoors and fed on grass.

The cost, both in dollars and energy used, in shipping that meat to the UK is less, pound for pound, than the cost of housing and feeding the UK raised beasts during winter.

"Food miles" are not quite as straight forward as the protectionist lobby would have us believe.

Do you possess an entire discography of an artist? Are you working towards doing so? by TheAdoringFanin vinyl

No. Quite the opposite. I just try to pick the best that each artist I like has to offer.

Life's too short. So much music.

Depends which you prefer, a truckful of crap with a few gems in amongst it, or a small hoard of gems with the odd bit of crap thrown in.

Their second album, Love (self-titled) is beautiful.

That's their first, Da Capo is the second. Both 1966.

Got to agree about Da Capo though, half an album for me.

That was the point of the OP, maybe I was being a bit too oblique.

Why are used records more expensive than new ones? by fallheadfirstin vinyl

[–]MiserableOldBastard 1 point2 points ago

In some cases the earliest pressings are the best ones.

But in the end it is all down to supply and demand; there's no real supply limit on the new pressings.
