I felt the same as you OP. The thing that i did was roll a human and play just a tadbit of the PvE to get a hang of the skills. After that just full-on sPvP.

sPvP makes you 80 instantly, you also get all the items and sigils and such. WvWvW is what gives you exp for doing it, and from what i've gathered, yes, you can gain exp from WvWvW from the very start.

From the moment i log in straight to sPvP. As the entire PvE game is considered "endgame" in a way, i dont want to ruin that for myself before the release or atleast before the next BWE. It'll be way more exciting to experience everything from the start when the game is actually released.

I think that in explorables it helps to have a person dedicated to mainly focusing on supporting though. Taking traits that improve supporting and using weapons that do the same. Because of how the game works however he can't do that all the time and will need to do dps and other things. But there certainly will be use for someone to specialize on something more what you would consider a "typical healer" kind of build.
