Sweet! Keep us informed.

[Reddit Meetup, May 18th or 19th] Halifax LAN Party Signup Page -- If you are planning to come, please sign up here. Also, comment on whether the 18th or 19th works better, and I'll count through them later. by Exalliumin halifax

[–]MeanE 0 points1 point ago

I would be working the 18th during the day, so if we were gaming during the day it would work out not so great. Although I could get the day off im sure. On the 19th I am not working, and free all day!

This right here. I have been shaving with a safety razor (a Merkur as well) for the last few years. Blades are dirt cheap!

The Budget: $5 billion in cuts over 3 years, and they are getting rid of the penny! by watchman_wenin canada

I used to live near Ottawa and had knew people who had no accent in either language. Usually children of French parents living a more English area.

I have lived in two countries. One has what you would call "Universal Health Care". I now live in the USA. The Health Care System here is atrocious by cGt2099in politics

It's the same at the Quebec/New Brunswick border. Man that 185 is rough.

Eastlink Adds 80MBps Service and Replaces 100MBps with 200MBps by fadetowhitein halifax

[–]MeanE 17 points18 points ago

They should up their usage as well. Why keep upping the speed if they are just going to keep it at 250 GB/Month . I hardly ever hit 250 but the limit keeps me on the 20MBps plan.

Disturbing: 52% of Canadians have little to no trust of Muslims, and want to blame them for the mistrust too. by Huroniain canada

[–]MeanE 1 point2 points ago

I will easily admit I did not.

And I will also mention I have met quite a few women wearing just the hijab who were on their own, talked to me just like anyone else and if it were not for the covering I would likely not of know they were Muslim. It's just I have never, not even once, encountered a women who was wearing a niqab or burka (only seen/glanced a women wearing a burka probably twice in my lifetime...rare at least in the part of Canada I am in) who was not with a male chaperone.

But all this greatly overshadowed by by the overwhelming amount of middle eastern/Asia Muslim men I interact with. Many of whom are extremely friendly people. My little experience with the women is the countries/parents will send the men for international education but very few of the women. Kind of sad really as we get much closer to 50/50 for something like our "Asian" students.

And all the niqab wearing women I have met have always been with their husband, he did the talking, answered all questions about her if the question pertained to her, if he did not know the answer he would ask her, then would answer them to me.

A small sample set of around 5 different couples, but all similar and stood out to me.

Actually mainstream support ended in 2009, but there is extended support (security patches) until April 8, 2014.

The day gay marriage is legalized, nothing will change. And that is what religions are afraid of. by mangecoeurin atheism

Our conservatives did something brilliant. They all amalgamated in to one party. If your on the right, you have one choice, no vote splitting. In first past the post voting this is the smartest thing to do.

On the centreish to left side you have the Liberals and NDP. You kind of hear talks about them joining up because if they did so they would likely easily win over the conservatives, especially if Quebec does not sway back to the Bloc. But since this will likely never happen the liberals and NDP will probably continue to split the centre to left vote.

Celebrate the end of the gun registry! Celebrate freedom for guns! by fluffityfluffin halifax

[–]MeanE 0 points1 point ago

They still know of any guns that fall under the restricted licence (hand gun), if you have a restricted licence and a restricted weapon.

They already assume you have an arsenal anyway as having a licence or not does not stop criminals in any way of possessing a gun.

The registry is like DRM. It hurts nobody but the legitimate users.

Yes, you would still need a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL) to pick up any gun and/or ammunition.
