I so wish I wasn't stoned while I watched that.

My friends and I went exploring at our University. Found what's most likely a time machine. by jeppelappin pics

Take another photo simular to the others while wearing 'futuristic' clothes. Date it 2045 add it to the rest of the photos. Turn out the lights, close the door, walk away and rest assured you will one day screw with someone else's understanding of reality.

Do you guys think we should have a meme checkbox for submissions and a meme opt-out checkbox for those who don't want to have to deal with them? by MaryjaneBrewingtonin AskReddit

I see your point. How about a switch on front page that is there even if you don't log in that omits the meme based /r/.

One switch and no advice animals sounds good to me.

Which is exactly why we need a meme filter. Simple solution to an escalating problem.

I'm going to put on my old fart redditor hat for a minute: Back when I started using Reddit, memes were rare and most of the front page were relevant issues concerning life, society, the world; and maintained a general feeling of being something special, unique and intelligent. Now, most of the top 100 are memes that have done nothing but turn reddit into another Digg.

Stop the Memes. Stop the insanity.

You can't really... If you have a profile, you can select which /r/'s you want to view which means sorting through all the /r/'s. But then you end up missing out on quite a bit.

I would like to be able to go to the front page, and even without logging in have a tick box off to the side that filters out the memes. Kind of jump to the meat of the steak and not have to worry about picking through the fat.

How fast is earth really moving through space if we account for the speed of earth around the sun, the sun through the solar system, the solar system through the galaxy and the galaxy through the universe? by MaryjaneBrewingtonin askscience

From the point of our origin of momentum. In other words, an imaginary static point directly behind the path our galaxy has traveled.
