Meetup at Mojo's on Saturday afternoon/evening, anyone? by 1224in rva

I'm game.

Do you use regular or premium fuel? by RighteousCin scooters

[–]Lokky 0 points1 point ago

Hence why an advert claiming that premium is better because it cleans your engine is lying.

Not trying to knock premium fuel here mind you, it has its uses, but not in your typical scooter engine. I bought a motorcycle two days ago to replace my totaled stella, I put in 87 octane without thinking and it started backfiring like crazy. I switched to 93 once the tank was empty and it runs perfectly now.

Oh god I did not even notice that wood box. Yeah it looks like the guy just bolted a grill to the underseat plate and then bolted a box to it. That shit probably shakes like crazy when the bike is running, I would replace it with a proper rear rack immediately (that is something that bolts to both under the seat and to the license plate holes).

Buying my first scooter! Or, where the heck should I get it from? by CravingSunshinein scooters

Well I know you life fairly upstate but NYC has a lot of used scooters floating around. It might be worth getting there with a friend and a pickup truck or even making it an adventure out of riding back!

I think the issue is that while you might save money at first you are wasting it in the long run.

Sure it seems attractive to get a 150cc for 1200 bucks or however much from a website, but when something breaks and you realize that there won't be any support and/or parts aren't available all you are left with is a 1200$ paperweight.

No problem. Hell I am looking at places several hundreds mile away to score a frame for my highly modified engine that we managed to salvage from the wreck.

Questions about touring! by joshcolesin scooters

I don't see why you shouldn't be able to considering people regularly take scooters across the US in the scooter cannonball.

I was originally going to take my Stella to Amerivespa this summer but she got totalled last week :(

If it rains hard enough to hurt it sounds to me like you have exposed skin.

As someone once said, "There is no such thing as bad riding weather, just inappropriate riding gear".

3rd - Dont go full throttle, ever, its not good for two stroke engines.

This is absolutely not true. Now it might be true of this specific scooter or yammys, that I do not know. But my Stella was ridden at WOT for the majority of her life since break in. When we upgraded the top end and crank my mechanic remarked on the good shape of my stock parts.

Steer away from buying online. You will find that they tend to break easily, the warranty will be a joke and you'll be lucky to get any support at all.

As others have mentioned look for a used P series Vespa or even a Genuine Stella. They are basically the same bike and are extremely easy to work on yourself.

Everything on these is fairly easy and there is plenty of spare parts available. However the electrics are Italian and old so chances are you'll have to thinker with them.

Your main concerns are going to be rust on the frame and ensuring that the front fork is straight.

I had sex on a first date. Did I kill my chance for a relationship? by emotionally_confusedin sex

[–]Lokky 0 points1 point ago

I pretty much have sex with the girls I date right as we meet. If the spark is there I act on it and it naturally leads to that, if it's not I'm usually not interested in them enough to make the moves. Usually I'll actually have sex with them a whole lot over the course of a few weeks before even making things official.

It has led to both awesome and awful relationships, just as more traditional dating would.

Romaning (vomit play)

I'm going to assume this came from the wrongly held belief that romans went to puke during parties so they could eat more. That's absolutely hysterical.

I love meat. I will still not eat at mcd unless I'm drunk off my ass and its the only thing open after a concert or some shit.

If I have a craving for fast food there are much better options around.

Do you use regular or premium fuel? by RighteousCin scooters

[–]Lokky 2 points3 points ago

I have done some pretty extensive experimentation and decided that my machine runs better on regular.

Contrary to popular belief regular fuel contains more energy by volume than premium. This is because premium is composed of longer hydrocarbons which have a higher anti-knocking capacity (the fuel grade number is indicative of this). Knocking occurs when ignition of the fuel happens faster than your engine can withstand, thus higher octane means that the fuel is HARDER to ignite. In high compression engines this is great, but in scooters which have low compression this is not so. Also premium fuel ignites hotter than regular, thus making your engine warmer, which can be an issue with our air cooled single cylinders.

I sat on one this last week while I was shopping for bikes and sadly the seat was too far back from the handlebars for it to be a comfortable ride for me, too bad cause it looked fantastic.

You know I always wondered but don't those decals make it really hard to see in your rearview mirror?

Who else hates it when scooters(or bikes as well occasionally) park so close to you, that it's near impossible to fit your leg in the gap or to actually get your bike back up vertically? Any other pet peeves you have being a bike rider? by terrysaucein motorcycles

[–]Lokky 1 point2 points ago

I don't know man, it looks to me like you could easily straighten the bike from the right side and fit your leg in-between.

Where I am from most bikes (scooters or not) are parked bodywork to bodywork, this is nothing.
