What's the weirdest/scariest/most intense thing you've woken up to in the middle of the night. by crazyspacechickin AskReddit

[–]LieutenantEddy 4 points5 points ago

It was a regular, calm night for me. I live out in the country, and our house is up a pretty large hilled driveway.

In the middle of the night, I woke up to hear what I thought was rain. No biggie, back to sleep. Next morning as I'm preparing to go into work, turns out our driveway had been destroyed. Apparently there was a beaver damn nearby that let go in the middle of the night. Apparently it was massive enough to wash away the entire road.

Here's what it looked like from across the road.

My bad, it was one of those 'If this group/page/whatever they were back then gets 25k fans.'

Also probably not when FB first started, whenever groups first started.

I remember when FB just started, there was a group called 'If this gets 25,000 likes my mom will stop smoking!'.

The newbie I was, I liked it - but holy shit, this was serious. When they got to the 25k mark, she started posting pics and updates of her mom's success with nicotine patches and whatnot. About a few months after there was a final post saying "Thanks everyone! My mom has been smoke free for 6 months now! She's living and enjoying life!".

Never saw a real group like that ever again.

I never saw one of these guys before. I used to live in Thunder Bay in the country, saw many types of beetles, worms, etc. Moved to TO just a month ago, figured it was something from here.

Here's its underside; http://i.imgur.com/jiNEe.jpg

I have a fever, and while making a trip to the bathroom, I thought a big piece of dust was on the ground. Nope, was this thing.

Upstairs does a lot of gardening, either may be a random guy who snuck in. Hoping he's not a pest. Hoping to hear from anyone!

Awesome! :D

That would be awesome - For one part that would be in really handy. Not sure if we'll use it tomorrow, but we shall!

-Since the servers are closing, all skins are unlocked and currently in everyone's 'Appearance' settings.

-Just the general update (free), you may want to update it now - It takes awhile to update (Don't use Peer-to-peer!)

-It's Straight up the view from my first person, and I'll just cut out the HUD.

-I use the Hauppauge HDPVR :)

Whip out the good ol' uTorrent and give it a test drive. Just make sure to keep your FCP7 though!

I tried it out, once I realized you can't make your own bins and that there's no precise trimming (only snapping). Deleted it as fast and hard as I could.

Just throwing this out there though - Vegas is advertised as a 'prosumer' editing software. It's really nice, but the industry doesn't use it unless they're on a budget.

Good thing though - All editing programs are essentially the same, just different buttons in different places :)

Yeah, I played with Premier and it's like a cool Hybrid of the two. No idea how these guys are doing it.

Off-topic; for the interview for mine I asked "Do you guys use FCP7 or the new X?" They replied with "The one that works." We laughed about it.

They didn't ask for a demo, but I still sent them one anyways. They were looking for people who know their stuff (Again, you don't need schooling for this, it's how the media business works - Long as you know it, that's good enough). But among that, if you mention you're willing to learn, that's what counts. Also the top trait to be an editor is patience and a keen eye. Mention those in the interview and you're set. (I did and it worked out great!)

That's right - I know FCP's still being used, but everyone's sticking to 7. If FCX doesn't get a professional update, it's done for.

I'm in an internship currently as I type - My brief advice is to learn as much Final Cut Pro or Avid Media Composer you can. (FCP for Mac, Avid for either, but your only 'professional' choice for Windows). Just self-teach the stuff you wanna learn, and you'll be golden.

Also buy plaid shirts. That's kinda the main editor dress-wear.
