TIL the actress who plays Talisa from "Game of Thrones" is Charlie Chaplin's granddaughter. by jay4523in todayilearned

It's not genetic. It's called nepotism.

Apollo 16 astronaut Charles M. Duke standing on the Moon, April 1972 by BornOnAugust31stin pics

[–]Lele_ 4 points5 points ago

I'm completely with you in this regard. It's exactly because I informed myself that I can't accept the "moon landings were fake" mindset. The material is public, there's nothing in it that can't be explained.

I, too, have been skeptical about it. I watched and read everything I could find. I ended up despising the conspiracy theorists because they nitpick evidence and assume their own ignorance of the matter is proof of forgery.

BTW, I don't think you should have been downvoted. You were promoting discussion. Downvotes are not for expressing disagreement.

No, he shouldn't. It's all hogwash. Misinformed, misinformed hogwash.

I'm struggling a lot with accepting the fact that I'm this way. I'm always feeling like I'm missing out on wonderful times I could be having with other people. Yet I avoid them.

Using Didgeridoo or Chants for Meditation? Looking for Personal Opinions. by wingslikeadragonin Meditation

[–]Lele_ 0 points1 point ago

I started meditating with tapes. They helped me a lot at the beginning, but in a couple of months of steady practice I started feeling I didn't need them. This could apply to you as well: use your music as a starting point, later you will be able to meditate without any support.

It takes a while to learn how to be still and calm the mind, so whatever floats your boat my friend!

I can't help to think what a death trap this must've been! Beautiful, though.

I appreciate the time and effort you invested in typing this. Your words are very kind and compassionate, and motivating to boot.

It is gut wrenching to admit I need professional help. This is why it's taking me 30 years to do it. But I feel I'm close to the moment I will seek it out.

Thank you, you have inspired me and made me think long and hard.

I am, in fact. But I'm NOT OK with it.

My phone has started randomly inserting periods into texts. Makes me feel like Christopher Walken. by ienjoypoopingin funny

[–]Lele_ 9 points10 points ago

This could explain why a FB friend of mine inserts periods after every word in his posts. It was so grating I had to block him.

I am fluent in Latin. What are some completely useless things you've learned? by Samamaniacin AskReddit

I am a Yahtzee champion. None of my friends has ever defeated me.

Not completely useless I guess, we used to play it to decide who would wash the dishes.

I considered it, but I feel a strong repulsion towards psychotherapy.

I had major improvements with meditation. But I feel I'm hitting a wall now, since this is not going away with the practice.

What about going out socially bothers your or makes you feel like "noping out"?

Not having any energy left for social interaction. Feeling judged and ridiculed. Not being listened to or respected. Feeling inferior to other people (other men usually). I improved a lot in this area, but still there are times it all comes back.

any issues or dysfunction at home?

Yes, definitely. My father puts me down quite a lot, never listens to me. My mother is quite fucked up actually, abandoned me a few times when I was very little. She attempted suicide not three years ago. She always pretends everything is alright, which makes me feel angry because I'm not a kid anymore and I deserve to know.

Do you think you were shy or introverted, or extroverted? Any previous romantic relationships?

I always have been introverted. Shy too. Used to have lots of problems with women, but I overcame that actually. I had two long term relationships. I don't find it hard to meet women and I have a healthy sex life.

do you tend to rely heavily on rational thought, or are you any good at intuitive emotional understanding as well?

I'm somewhat emotional, and I feel a lot of empathy towards other people. I think I'm good at getting what they are feeling. But I'm also putting up a cynical facade, because I'd feel very vulnerable otherwise.

what are some easy alternate fingerpicking techniques I can use? by dbcificationin Bass

[–]Lele_ 0 points1 point ago

if you're not playing busy lines, just use your thumb. be sure to use the side of your picking hand as a mute to minimize resonance.

it takes a bit to get familiar with it, but it's really good if you're playing old school rnb and such, it gives you that nice round mellow tone.

When I was a kid, my uncle had this videotape.

It was without a sleeve, and had HOT LICKS written on it, so my 13 years old mind assumed it was some kind of porno.

My mind was blown away when I played it. I forgot about boobies and just watched and watched! He was a freaking badass.

What small seemingly insignificant thing have you lost that just crushed your world? by cameltoadin AskReddit

[–]Lele_ 1 point2 points ago

My grandfather had a small coin collections he had amassed while he was working in a shipyard. They were old coins from all over the world, worth nothing but meaning the world to me.

One day I came back to find my house had been broken into, and they were gone. I didn't give a shit about the TV, the VCR or anything else. Losing those coins made me cry so bad.
