For those of us who saw /r/therepublicofreddit fail miserably, how does this brainstorming experiment differ from that one?

Question about finishing up my classes in community college in the summer to transfer in the fall by gn328in highereducation

[–]LawAndMortar 2 points3 points ago

It might be messed up, but it's the FSU policy and that's not going to change.

Having said that, you might have options that the form email doesn't mention. I would call the admissions office (850-644-6200) in the next few days and talk to a transfer admissions counselor. She (that's a guess based on their staff directory) will be an expert on the FSU policies and might know a way you can be considered while you're still completing your language requirement. It might be something like a conditional admission, or it might simply be full consideration later in the summer. It might not be perfect, but you might not have to wait as long as you think. Bottom line: talk to someone at FSU Admissions and find out.

College graduate... do I try for more education or hope I get a job? What do I do? by brakeOFFin highereducation

Give it a little time. You have to wait for the people who will actually read your post, not just one or two who judge without listening.

There are some folks on /r/AskAcademia who might be able to help.

It sounds like the best thing you can do right now is have a real conversation with someone who understands your academic options and can listen for your whole story. I would try talking to your previous academic advisor in CS. It might seem weird to go back now, but I suspect he or she will understand where you're coming from and have some insight into where to go from here. He or she will certainly have more insight into careers in programming than most of the people here do.

This is not a reliable source. It's citing to an undated report, with no identifying characteristics except the city where it comes from and no indication at all of what its methodology was. There is no way to verify that, so it doesn't belong here.

So I'm going to meet Stan Lee... HELP. by H0neyBadgerin comicbooks

[–]LawAndMortar 2 points3 points ago

I'm not an expert on comics valuation, but I don't think any of those would become considerably more valuable with a Stan Lee signature. I'm just not sure any issue he didn't work on would increase in value that much.

So pick the one that's going to mean the most to you, on the assumption that you'll never have to sell it. For me, that would be Spider-Men #1, but you should go with what's important to you.

DC plans to bring a 'prominent' character out of the closet - iO9 by Wayne_Brucein comicbooks

It did, but somehow I think that might be an overstatement. I would guess a JSA character, a sidekick, or a recurring villain at best.

I was just pointing out that there may be a different interpretation of "journalist credentials." I make no judgments about what people might want in a journalist.
