[Hardcore] Surviving Hardcore mode - share your tips & tricks by SwirishNinjain Diablo3Strategy

[–]Jman5 0 points1 point ago

It really depends how dangerous it was. If you are determined to run back in, I suggest loading up some high cooldown spells and then blowing them all as soon as you enter.

However, when in doubt, just remake. It's not worth dying to save a couple minutes.

Reading submissions & comments in this subreddit makes me feel like I shouldn't be enjoying the game. by ShadyJanein Diablo

The battle.net forums are the biggest pile of shit community you will ever come across. General discussion page moves at about 10 pages an hour, so the only posts that stay on the front page are inflammatory ones that get attention.

Some of the sub-forums are nicer, but reddit still blows them out of the water.

Take this from a forum regular. You don't want to go there if you can help it.

Would you mind listing the fan pages you visited where you signed up an account?

I get the feeling that one of the Diablo 3 fan pages did not perform due diligence protecting their viewer's e-mail/password.

Another alternative is that one of these beta contest was a scam to collect e-mail/passwords.

Are you talking about the dial-in authenticator? Because that is only supported with WoW.

D3 Chat System is atrocious. by D-acsOin Diablo

[–]Jman5 1 point2 points ago

If I have a battletag of a person, I cannot message or view their profile unless I have played with them recently, have them friendlisted, or we're in the same public chat.

I wish I was an expert in this field because I would apply to Blizzard in a heartbeat and fix this shit on my free-time if I had to.

Why Blizzard, WHY?!

Act 3 is my favorite act-anyone else? by willthinkformoneyin Diablo

[–]Jman5 2 points3 points ago

No no, I liked those spirits of the dead miniboss fights. I'm talking about whenever you completed a task. Diablo would come on the horn and throw out some petty bad guy talk about how it doesn't matter that you foiled his plans because he doesn't need it anyway! It really came off as kind of lame.

IMO, Blizzard never did justice to the persona of each prime evil.

  1. The lies from the Lord of Lies were predictable and telegraphed,

  2. They portrayed the essence of sin through his lieutenants well enough, but The military strategy from the Lord of Sin were juvenile,

  3. The Lord of Terror was more pathetic than terrifying.

I love blizzard games, but their stories are only ever skin deep. It's truly one of the weakest links in the company. They have all this money and time. They craft beautiful gameplay, artwork, and cinematics, but then waste it on B-movie storytelling.

Act 3 is my favorite act-anyone else? by willthinkformoneyin Diablo

[–]Jman5 12 points13 points ago

I think Act 1 was the best if you take difficulty out of the equation. My problems with the other acts:

Act 2:

  • Act 2 felt like a never ending fetch quest with an ever shifting goalpost. Especially the Kuule part.
  • Magda boss fight was disappointing after 2 acts of build up
  • The reveal was a little disappointing because it was so obvious.

Act 3:

  • The descent down to Azmodan felt too long.
  • All the minibosses in Act 3 were too easy

Act 4:

  • The Diablo taunts were probably the most disappointing part of the entire story. It fit Azmodan because of his pride, but to hear Diablo do this petty taunting just cheapened him. He felt more like the Lord of cheese, than the Lord of Terror.

Take this all with a grain of salt because I actually really enjoyed the game. This is just me nit-picking any and all problems.

Diablo III sold 3.5 million copies on launch day, and 6.3 million during its first week, Activision announced. by Echuuin Diablo

"Each step harder than the next." is this an error? by TityTotBoopBopin Diablo

It's one of these things that almost sounds right. I'm not surprised the writers and voice actor missed it.

The line should have been: "Each step harder than the last"

Is anyone already finding themselves getting bored? by missingpiecein Diablo

[–]Jman5 0 points1 point ago

There is nothing wrong with that. In fact that is the trend for all games out there. Most people will play through the campaign, maybe dip their toe in multiplayer, and then never pick it up again.

It was true with Diablo 2, and it will be true for Diablo 3.

For me personally, Blizzard titles have a special place in my heart, so I stick with them over the long haul. However, I have plenty of games in my library that I essentially played through once and never touched again. Fun games, but I just wasn't motivated to play through again.

I'm in inferno and I'm probably going to uninstall the game tonight if I don't find any fun in it until then. Any tips? by InsightfulDouchein Diablo

[–]Jman5 1 point2 points ago

It's a siege mentality. You have every idiot on the internet slamming various diablo communities with terrible complaints. So when an honest person mentions problems they are having with the game, they lash out on instinct.

I don't understand how you could hold Diablo 2 up on some pedestal when it is unequivocally a bigger grind-fest than Diablo 3 ever will be. In D3 there is much more pre and post level progression. On top of that, the difficulty for D3 is much higher on all levels compared to Diablo 2.

If you want my opinion, I think you ruined the game for yourself with unrealistic expectations. Diablo 3 is a hack and slash dungeon crawler at it's heart. Your complaints just as easily apply to both Diablo 1 and Diablo 2.

Let me ask you this: What did you like about Diablo 2? Also, did you play it through Hell and gear up?

I assure you I played Diablo 1 a shit ton. I also probably played Diablo 2 more than any other game in my life.

I'm sorry, but the majority of complaints are nothing but the gripes of a vocal minority. Something all too common on the internet.

Some stats scale in usefulness as you level. For example 1 point in vitality at level 1 gives you far fewer hitpoints than 1 point in vitality at level 60.

I'm not sure if the other stats scale up like that or not.

PSA: If you are Running away from a fight, Hit numpad 7 by Jman5in Diablo

[–]Jman5[S] 0 points1 point ago

I may yet settle on a playstyle like yours. I'm actually currently mixing it up at close range with firebat on my re-level. It's not so risky because I've got all this twink gear in single player.

I just wasn't very comfortable playing like that in acts/difficulties I was going into blind. Darts lets me sit back at considerable range if need be, which makes kiting easier. (when the situation warrants it)

darts, unbreakable grasp, and pets give me space and control which I currently prefer because I'm still learning the game and making mistakes.

[S] The Butcher's return in Diablo III by EreTheWorldCrumblesin Diablo

[–]Jman5 1 point2 points ago

First off I played Diablo 1 and Diablo 2 heavily when they were new games. Over the last 10 years I came back again and again to D2. And while I loved both of them, I still love the Diablo 3 boss fights more than anything we saw in the previous titles. The boss battles are just miles ahead in complexity and enjoyment.

On top of that, The Butcher was my favorite fight in the game. You say that the Butcher failed to deliver that same feeling of terror we experienced in Diablo 1, but I completely disagree. The butcher in fact, exceeded anything I have experienced in any of the games, period.

I played the game completely blind, in singleplayer, and hardcore mode from the start. When the Butcher showed up and nearly killed my witch doctor several times I was shitting my pants.

Obviously, now that I know what I'm doing the fight isn't nearly as terrifying (or hard), but I will remember that first time forever.

My friend if you were looking for terrifying, you made a huge mistake by not rolling hardcore first. Jumping into the unknown alone, on just a single life made my first playthrough both exhilarating and fun.
