Reddit, what is the biggest at-work fuck-up you have witnessed? by goodladukin AskReddit

[–]Itkovan 1 point2 points ago

In this military subject I'm in over my head and cannot answer you. But it is worth nothing the radome is the part protecting the radar and not the radar itself.

For this application that probably means the entire outer casing of the missile; even so, I cannot see that costing $300-700k since surely the guidance hardware, ignition, bomb, etc must take up a lot of expense as well.

What's the most ridiculous thing you've gotten in trouble for? (school, work, etc.) by cathemeralin AskReddit

[–]Itkovan 0 points1 point ago

That's one of those instances where you cross out and initial the parts you don't agree with and sign it. A contract is an agreement between two entities and both have to agree with all of it.

IANAL but never been challenged on it. My guess is the other party - IF they find it - shrugs and says "fuck it, someone else's problem."

I was involved in a serious accident and was the only survivor... by maxxie_91in self

[–]Itkovan 27 points28 points ago

If you'll notice the OP said it was a new volkswagen. The new part matters much more than the brand. Here is proof in the form of a 2000 vehicle impacting a 2010 vehicle. The 2010 is so much stiffer (plus better crumple zones) it just demolishes the older vehicle. Didn't even have to fire its airbags in an offset frontal which would have killed the other driver.

Prior to watching that kind of video I thought "hey, a year 2000 car is not that old!" Well guess what it's more than a decade old and car manufacturers/the government have not been twiddling their thumbs.

Given the context I'm not surprised it stopped the truck. I am surprised it retracted into the ground afterwards like nothing had happened.

My fiancé and I bought a new car today. After years if hard work. We decided to spoil ourselves. by [deleted]in cars

I've always thought of Astons as a pinnacle of GT. And as I've gotten older I've realized GT cars are perfect for me: not the absolute fastest but damned fast, not the cheapest but high quality, a spine-tingling mix of performance and luxury. They should be a car you can drive on any paved road for any distance and feel fucking fantastic doing so.

OP: Congrats on your purchase! May you enjoy that sexy beast as much as, well... as much as I think I would.

Male redditors, what is the most feminine thing you do? by thelovepiratein AskReddit

[–]Itkovan 0 points1 point ago

While it's not going to be magic, take a moderately deep breath and exhale as you piss.

If I focus on that I can piss even with people on either side of me in urinals, where normally I would have been just standing there holding my dick.

It Is Difficult For Me To Give My SO A Blowjob. Help! by Girl_With_One_Eyein sex

[–]Itkovan 2 points3 points ago

Swallowing is not required for a good BJ. Any form of sex is up to those who are involved. If given the choice between more frequent BJs and you not swallowing vs less frequent and you swallowing I'll bet he'd take more BJs.

Unless he's super into the swallowing part, at which point it's probably worth troubleshooting a bit to see if you can make it work.

You're a keeper for even asking. But I'll bet you knew that.

Is a male with child the new Driving While Black? by krackenmorein AskReddit

[–]Itkovan 21 points22 points ago

in Taiwan there's baby changing stations in the men's bathroom as well.

I'm in the US and at least in my city, many male bathrooms have changing stations.

I'm also not given the stink eye whenever I take my daughter anywhere, at least yet. Generally the reaction is "she's so cute." Though I loved "I wish I had a Dad like that."

Is your stuff falling apart? Thank Walmart. by aimbonicsin BuyItForLife

[–]Itkovan 8 points9 points ago

Walmart is not to blame here. At best they contributed. The consumer is ultimately responsible for demand, if they keep buying cheap crap then the suppliers should not be faulted for providing it.

If consumers wanted quality or even a decent balance that's what we'd see. Instead we've seen an intense focus on price. The effect being the cheap gets cheaper and quality costs a bit more, because there is less demand for it. That is no single company's fault.

Men of Reddit: How much does "tight" really matter? (NSFW) by amazingboobiesin AskReddit

[–]Itkovan 3 points4 points ago

Meh, I know extended family that was told this and she had resigned to having a c-section. Now that she is almost due she was rated 9/10 on the bishop scale and is set to have the baby vaginally. She is absolutely tiny. Bodies change during pregnancy, it's almost impossible to tell how much until the woman is right there.

After birth my wife was significantly looser at first (like, alarmingly so) but then over time it returned to normal. After 3 months it was much better and after six it feels just as tight as it did before.

Since neither of us have solid research I'd bet the return to normal varies per woman. Some do, some don't.

What's the minimum level of drunk driving signs your department looks for before sending officers to the scene?

(Assume there are officers available to deal with the situation.)

If the person is obviously drunk then there is no question, but I've had a few where they exhibited a few signs but it could have been attributed to a really poor driver instead of "yup, definitely drunk." Is crossing over the line too much? Once, twice, ? What level of weaving?

Some lady rolled down her window, yelled obscenities at me, flipped me off, then crashed into a pole going 40mph. What instant karma in driving have you guys had? by xDerivativein AskReddit

[–]Itkovan 0 points1 point ago

If anyone's head hit the window or side of the car hard enough you can die from an impact speed as slow as 5mph. Due to stopping so quickly the brain plows through its protective layers and smacks into the skull. It gets bruised. No biggie, right? Everyone seems fine. Then the brain starts swelling in response to the bruise (to heal itself) which then pushes more of the brain against the skull. If that's hard enough it starts damaging other parts which then start swelling and sooner or later that low speed can't-hurt-a-fly impact is causing the person to have to get holes drilled in their skull to relieve the pressure.

Now, with front to back collisions using seatbelts at low speeds it's almost impossible to hit your head on something hard fast enough to cause this level of damage. Plus cars made in the past several years have side impact airbags to prevent damage in the kind of situation you described from happening.

With prompt medical attention once symptoms show up the damage is rarely life threatening, but if you're away from society a low speed impact can be fatal. Obviously a drive through is probably close to some hospital, but the point is don't be so quick to shrug off the damage caused by even very low speeds accidents, especially ones from the side.

[–]Itkovan 1 point2 points ago

That's a great article. I agree with you that they downplay TC a little too much. I can tell the difference between 200 and 350 TC egyptian cotton (for thread newbies that is long staple cotton, the preferred kind for softness and longevity) and recommend the higher end of that range. It's worth noting some sheets have a softer and a slightly rougher side.

OP: You're pretty safe buying any form of sheets in egyptian cotton in the 300-500 TC range from a reputable mfr. Non-long staple cotton has way higher thread count but is NOT softer and will wear quickly. They're usually crap, actually. (Not always.)

If you want soft instead of longevity go for a sateen finish. From experience I think pima cotton with a sateen is unbeatable (for cotton) for softness, but they're going to wear out in 2-4 years so I hesitate to recommend it. Especially given that he'll be hooked on quality linens from here on out.

Yeah but it's cardboard. If it gets wet enough to touch the electrical components it's game over.

Or if water gets into the exposed battery compartment.
