TROPHY CASE

I tend to only use half a vegetable at a time, how do I store the leftover half? by strawberryskittlesin Cooking

[–]Indubitableness 0 points1 point ago

It's easier to handle. Using suran or plastic wrap is an exercise in frustration. It'll keep air out, though, and is important to use when storing things that oxidize quickly. For me this means guacamole and even then I often use aluminum foil because I don't care if the top layer goes a little brown before I get back to it. Slight browning is a purely aesthetic flaw on guacamole and does not affect the flavor to a perceptible degree.

If I'm worried about the appearance of the presentation I use the suran wrap.

Naw. I store my tomatoes and onions in the fridge, though I sometimes store onions next to the cutting board if I plan on using them soon. If I stored tomatoes outside of the fridge I'd never get to eat them before they rotted. If I'm going to use the day or the day after I buy them sometimes I'll set them next to the cutting board, but this is more to let everyone know they've been designated for a purpose.

The only thing I've ever heard is that potatoes aren't supposed to be stored in the fridge, and I do that too.

If you leave half an onion outside of the fridge expect it to go off pretty quickly.

It's really going to want more room for the roots than that, but, you could probably let it flower as is and it'll do fine, it is an annual after all, and sunflowers are pretty tenacious.

I just wrap them in aluminum foil and put them back in the fridge.

Two tomato plants in one? by yuppiepuppiein gardening

[–]Indubitableness 4 points5 points ago

When they're little like this removing the second plant, whether caused by an extra seed or by suckering off the original plant, tends to allow the remaining plant to grow more quickly. It also prevents overcrowding among the leaves when the plant is large, which can be important for preventing disease and encouraging healthy fruit production.

That being said, many growers will allow both shoots to grow, careful to cage and prune the plants when necessary. It's really just a matter of preference. Some growers find that they will see plants producing sooner when removing the second shoot, but this depends heavily on your local environment and the individual plant and can't be said to provide consistent results for everyone.

Yeah I'd be pissed off. I wouldn't have let that drop without getting his name, his employer's name, and a number I could contact the employer at.

It doesn't have enough of a root system to support its weight. You may want to repot it in a larger pot or put it in the ground.

(x-posted Ornithology) Any hints or suggestions on scaring off wild turkeys? by nefariouslylupinein gardening

[–]Indubitableness 0 points1 point ago

Shoot them in the head with some bird shot rounds and cook them.

If you can't fire guns in your area harvesting birds in quieter ways may not be as effective. Turkeys will scare at the sound of gunfire, particularly if each time it happens one of them dies, so the firing of a gun is the important part of the deterrent. They will eventually learn not to bother your feeders... or they'll fill your freezer with delicious meat. Having a turkey dinner is just a bonus.

Anywhere where people enjoy blackberries.

I specialize in rubus berries and chiles. You can't imagine how valuable the local, so called "invasive" blackberries are to me and my fellow gardeners. I grow these right along-side my commercial blackberries and raspberries.

There's a surprising amount of blackberry-phobes in this subreddit.

It baffles me.

So we should fix your retarded mouse for you?

Maybe use a normal mouse, like a man? Or do you need your delicate hand kissed by angels prior to each button click? I hate to imagine what happens to those poor cherims when you have to wipe your fragile ass.

If you need hidpoint so badly the text files you should spend fifteen hours investigating is the hidpoint codebase.
