I remember seeing one of the advertisements he plays on his radio show on one of the big mainstream cable tv stations that he supposedly is "against". I thought that was odd.

On a side note, does anyone remember that documentary by Jay Weidner on the Kubrick film The Shining? Toward the end of the video he talks about a "Tang" drink. Now I've noticed Alex starting to promote some new drink on his show called "Tangy Tangerine". I thought this was odd too, but its probably just a coincidence.

I wouldn't buy an Apple TV 2 right now because they are already talking about a third one coming out next year. In addition to that you already have a PS3 which you could use until then.

Hi ZeosPantera,

I believe the native resolution is 800X600 however I'll be using the HDMI port. I know the picture would be compressed at the higher resolution but would it be acceptable to view you think? One of the commenters for the Optoma linked to says his roommate plays FPS's on it all the time and there is no lag. I would love to get a 720p projector but my budget cannot afford it. I'll keep an eye out though like you mentioned.

Audioengine A2 vs. Antec Soundscience Rockus 2.1 by Aesir89in audiophile

[–]HowDareThey 0 points1 point ago

Newegg had the Antec Soundscience Rockus 2.1 for $79 bucks a couple of weeks ago. I was thinking of getting this system because of the optical input but held off. When I asked about speakers many in /r/audiophile recommended a DAC + Dayton Audio setup which could be done for around $100. They also recommended the Audioengine A2's. I'm still not sure what to buy either.

I've been looking to get a projector around this price and based on my research have narrowed it down to these two results. I can't seem to make a decision though. Any help is appreciated.

Hey everyone, I got another question to add to this thread if that's ok. I went over to my grandparents house to see if they had any vintage receivers. I couldn't find the actual receiver (but I believe it is there somewhere) however I found some speakers that may be interesting. They're a pair of Genesis 2.0 speakers from like the late 60's & early 70's. They look exactly like the speakers in this image:

So are these any good? If I find their receiver or one from a thrift shop would I be good to go? Thanks.

Hey guys, thanks for the responses. Yeah I'm going to use it for gaming and movies. Unfortunately my laptop only has 3.5mm audio out so that will limit its quality. Probably need to get a 3.5mm to RCA cable for that right? Laptop won't be the only thing its used for though. I want to attach this to a projector (which I haven't gotten yet) because they usually have poor audio from what I understand. If you're curious about the projector I'm looking at, they're the Acer k11, Lg Hs201, and Qumi (if the price comes down a little on the latter two). Like I mentioned in my original post, I don't know very much about audio. Is the main component I'm looking at the wattage? What other factors should I be interested in? Are HTIB a better value for me due to money?

I see a poster has recommended the Audioengines A2's. I will look further into this product now. Anyone have any other opinions though?

EDIT: Also, what about this system. I know its used but whatever: http://www.amazon.com/Theater-System-1000W-Audio-Receiver/dp/B001BTX15U/ref=sr_1_13?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1321299913&sr=1-13

Hey netsec, what's your opinion on WebGL security, here's a Microsoft blog post about it. [xpost/webdev] by manueljsin netsec

[–]HowDareThey 1 point2 points ago

sorry, this has been archived and can no longer be voted on

I thought WebGL is just a wrapper for the underlying OpenGL, OpenGL-ES or Direct3D implementations. If that's correct why wouldn't WebGL be of interest to Microsoft? Direct3D = MSFT, no? I don't believe Microsoft is not supporting WebGL because of economic interests. I do believe that they have very real security concerns. However I also believe that with Microsoft's help they can fix these vulnerabilities, so I'm a little disappointed. =(

How do I change the space I allocated to my virtual hard drive in VirtualBox? by HowDareTheyin techsupport

@Rolcol Just followed your instructions, and resized it with the Disk Management utility. Explorer is now reporting the correct size of the virtual disk, so I think I am good to go now (although you never know lol).

  • Thanks for the help.

Ok so when I ran that command the size of the hard disk did adjust to around 79gb, and is outputted as such by VirtualBox. However when I launch windows and go into explorer it still reads as 20gb. I'll update as I get further.

@utilise - yup. I know that now

@wantobefree - just found an article similar to that. I'm going to try the following command:

VBoxManage modifyhd Windows\ 7.vdi --resize 80000

So far it looks like its working. Thanks for helping everyone.

Oracle discontinues Ruby/Rails support in Netbeans by smcjin programming

I wish Google would just buy out Oracle to show them their place. It would be a much better world IMO with Google Netbeans, Google VirtualBox, and they could rename OpenOffice Google Docs (so that it doesn't just exist as a Web app). It would also give Google the ability to use Java however they like for Android. Also Google wants to do better in the Enterprise/Business/Govt. industries where Oracle seems to have a strong foot.

Apple your move. Sony creates Music Unlimited to challenge Apple's iTunes. by jk1096in technology

Sony should know they can't compete with Apple right now. I wonder if they did this to get Apple interested in buying out their company. I think their were rumors a couple months ago Apple may be interested in purchasing Sony. Interesting move on their part.

edit: In addition to everything said above, Apple would need the resources to build t.v's for their trademarked technology that is supposed to be able to display 3D without glasses. Could we be seeing Apple Bravias in the future?
