The problem with this one is that people who aren't paying attention, who don't know about the blackouts, won't get it. We need something that everyone, including those who don't use the internet much, will get.

I'm an fan of reverse disfellowshipping. I did it 30 years ago and life has been great ever since.

I know lots of other people who have tried to maintain relationships with their JW family and the results are always the same. Things go ok for a while, then, through some passive aggressive bullshit, the JWs rip open the Ex-JWs old wounds and make their life miserable for a while. They get over it, things go OK for a while, and then it happens again. And again and again and again.

The sooner you can get all of them out of your life, completely out of your life, the more of your life you'll enjoy without putting up with their hurtful crap.

That was my first thought too.

First, they'll sit back and let him build whatever he wants.

Then they'll set up a wannabee terrorist to use his system. Perhaps have him set off a small bomb or be caught in a crowd with a non-working bomb vest.

They'll say they almost couldn't stop him because he was using this system.

Congress will quickly pass laws making the entire enterprise illegal. There will be lots of screaming here and elsewhere in on the tubes, but the mouth-breathing general public will praise and support Big Brother protecting us from those evil terrorists and nasty pirates.

The only way he'll be able to pull this off is to locate offshore. WAY offshore.

The advertisers do this for a living. They have been doing this for a living for a very long time. We ignore their experience at our peril.

YOU might find frequently changing billboards catch your eye better. But we're trying to reach the voters - i.e. old people - who can put this idiot out on his ass. We need to do whatever is more likely to reach THEM.

When my father asked if i was sleeping with my girlfriend I admitted it, and almost immediately got calls from my sister and again from an elder asking the same question.

I just told them it wasn't any of their business and eventually they gave up.

Actually, no, they don't.

Smokers die earlier, so they don't burden the system as long as people who don't smoke.

Over their lifetime smokers pay tens of thousands of dollars more in taxes than anyone else in the same income bracket.

Between dying earlier and paying more taxes smokers save society money.

The fact is that ANY RR below 2.0 is highly suspect, and those in this range are just nonsense. Epidemiology is not precise enough to measure anything that small. It's like trying to measure microns with a yardstick.

Epidemiology reduces human behavior to numbers, which can't be done with a high degree of precision. It then uses those numbers to extrapolate an estimate of a * probability.* When that number is high (2.0 or better) it's an indication that more research, real white-lab-coat research, is called for. THAT is the purpose of epidemiology - to determine the best place to spend scarce resources.

Epidemiology can not prove anything - and it's not designed to. Citing studies as proof of something isn't just bad science, it's junk science.

E-cigs give you no tar, there's no SHS, and no smell. You physically use them the way you use a cigarette - by inhaling the vapor and blowing it out. (It's water vapor, though.) But it looks like smoking, and the Nicotine Nannies are trying to get them banned, taxed or otherwise restricted.

This is not about health. This is about hating 20% of the population.

You mean like murdering people and getting away with it? Shooting someone who had a 3 inch carving knife and walking away? Shooting a kid in the back who was face down, with his hands behind his back, and getting a mere 3 years for manslaughter? Stripping an old man down to nothing, tying him to a chair, and them pepper spraying him to death?.

The reality is the police are not our friends, they are agents of the state looking for arrests, generating revenue, and covering their own asses.
